j-sou's DS: NIB--> new built--> "dark trick"--> done!

Post by j-sou »

I'm building the NIB Dual Sport!
...and I'm doing it on the kitchen island because my girl is out of town! :mrgreen:

I was pretty close to selling this, but decided to just keep it and build it while I'm sourcing parts for some other projects. Should be pretty straight forward. Box stock build.

I have a Corrado body that I think is the correct WB and width to fit. Always loved those! I'll do it road race style I guess. If it doesn't fit, I'll find something else to fit.

always hard to take a pic of a clear body :lol:

I never saw these DS kits in the UK. Maybe I just missed them, who knows. Will be watching the build :)

Well it came together fast. Chassis is done. I managed to actually get some work done today too! It was an easy, clean build.

The Corrado body doesn't fit, so I guess this project is a bit stalled while I figure out another option, and source a MSC:
Image
I have a "bearing kit" which didn't come with a MSC, but I've got a thing for them and want to source the appropriate style with brackets to use in this car. I can't imagine how many were just thrown away for an ESC over the years... :lol:

For now I guess this gets added to the stalled project list until I find the proper MSC set up and a body that I don't hate. Wanna do something kinda old rally style.... hmm.....

....and I want to drive this thing SO freakin bad!! I love having a fresh, clean, new built R/C but it's so hard not to throw electronics in this car and rip it down the alley :lol:
My OCD is going to kick in and make me buy another DS to drive so I can leave this one all fresh and clean. :roll:

Love the DS. There was one of these NIB in the case at Hub Hobby in St. Paul for YEARS, and I kept thinking about it, and there was always something more "interesting." I had pan cars and 4WD touring cars, and the DS just seemed redundant. Kicking myself that I never just went ahead and got it.

Wasn't there a super-cheapo version of these that came with foam tires, too? Had some other name?
