My vintage dirt oval hoard

Post by NCOHOG »

Here are a few pics of my Vintage dirt oval hoard.

The first one is a Big Boy Toys sprinter with Bolink foams and a set of 48 pitch Thorp gears for the six gear tranny.

The second one has Advanced mini mags, a Team Pit Stop Chain drive, Andys mounts, and a McCallister lowering kit.

The third one is kind of an old is new build. RPM 2.6 tranny, JG lowering kit, Aluminum CVD's, JRX pro rear hub carriers.

I also have some T&M foams, A Thorp 64 pitch stealth conversion, and Robinson inclined castor/steering blocks.

I have a few more that i would like to get going, but as everyone knows time, money and real life tends to get in the way.

Thanks,
BJ

Does anyone know what body that is currently available will fit the sprint car? Or does anyone know where to find an original body?

I'm also restoring a BB sprint ( although I think it is an Ascot). I have been told that Gary McAllister made the bodies. They were called The Gambler. I've also been told you can talk Gary into pulling one for you. I haven't tried yet, but if there is at least two of us, maybe It'll further entice Gary....

bolink foams were great .had them on my team car and that was one of the best (and coolest) onroad set ups i ever had. much smaller then stock rc10 team car wheels so it lowered the car without lowering the shocks.i always lower my old rc10s a little so this really slammed the car low .the car was great for onroad then you just changed wheels and tires and it was great offroad..
thanks for posting pics very cool stuff .this why i love rc10s , so many ways to set up onroad and offroad.

I just finished my BBT sprint car, RJ Speed makes a body that will fit with some modification. Here is mine, this one also has an RJ Speed Wing kit. Looked for a body for a while and this is the closest i could find. The hood and sides are actually three pieces. I can snap some pictures of how it is mounted if it would help. I just notice yours is the one with down tubes, but i bet the RJ Speed body would still work.

Yes I would be interested in seeing how you mounted your body. Thanks for the help.

Here are the details. The body is part #1525 and the wing is #1525, made by RJ Speed. The sides had lexan headers that had to be trimmed out to fit around the BBT headers. I used Velcro on the side panels to hold the body on. The hood is three pieces held together with 3m automotive tape. Hopefully these pictures help, took me awhile to figure out the setup, but I am really pleased with the results. If you need better pictures or more specifics, just let me know.

Could it be an Ascot cage on a BBT chassis? I always heard the BBT were flat chassis, Ascot had a kick up. I am pretty sure the nerf bars are Ascot because they are a little different, but i was never sure about the cage. When I bought it, i figured it was a hodge-podge of parts. It was REALLY rough when i got it, painted arms and transmission. I had to clean the paint off to dye them. Any info is greatly appreciated.

the ascot stuff will bolt right up to a big boy chassis (as far as i know).

it's definitely an ascot cage. the wing mounts are a dead giveaway.

Your cage and nerfs are identical to mine and i believe mine is an Ascot. My chassix is flat fiberglass with an RC10 front kick up plate.
