B3 Tyres on Worlds Car Parts

Post by Aussie Al »

Im putting together a small shopping list of parts to convert my worlds car to run B2/3 wheels.

So far I have;
MIP Shiny CVD Kit RC10B2
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=001468591&I=LXAX37&P=K
Associated Hub Carriers Rear 0 Degree
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=001468591&I=LX2912&P=K
Sealed Bearings 3/16x3/8
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXPA18&P=7

Siebenelch looks to have a similar setup.

Are these the correct parts I need to do the conversion? Are there any other parts I will need?

Get one set of these too:

They are bearing spacers that go inside the hub between the two bearings. The rest of your list looks good to me!

Can you not use the original rear hubs?

Sure you can, but sometimes it's hard to find 3/16 x 3/8 flanged bearings to fit the big hub carriers. No other reason, really. Back in my gas truck racing days I kept a 1.5º setup in my pit box just to have all the different toe in options.

You can get 0º, 1.5º, or 3º at the chassis plus 0º, 1.5º, or 3º at the hub. 12º of rear toe is a little extreme...

Argh!
I thought B3 wheels were getting hard to come by.
Will B4 series wheels work?
I've got a Worlds and a box of CE wheels that I know don't work. but, what's the difference?

B3 front wheels are discontinued, but B4 work fine with the current wider front tires. The B4 rear wheels have a much deeper inner offset and don't work with the B3 and earlier hub carriers. B2/3 rear wheels are stil available, and are reported to be the same as Duratrax Evader and Jammin' CRT.5.

Jammin's have a 12mm hex, you have to use the HPI adapters, I plan on testing some this coming weekend.

So are people tossing the hexes to use B3 rear wheels on their CRT.5's? I'm just going by info from the LHS, who got in a bunch of B3 rears just for the Jammin... which, of course nobody around here has... At least I'm stocked now.

Yeah, they will work, but they have a slightly different offset. It makes the Jammin a little skinnier.

B4 wheels on the old RC10 will not work stock. I sold a Worlds car about a year ago that I made new CVD axles to compensate for the difference. Not a recommended mod unless you have access to a lathe and endmill..... and you are really bored.

Does anybody on this board have that car? It was shipped to France??????
It had a body painted white/yellow/orange/silver.

Thanks for the info. That will get me well along the way.

Do the b3/b4 front wheels use the same 3/16x3/8 bearings?

SLightly off topic. The main reason I'd doing this mod is to run newer tyres. Should modern 2.2" tyres fit on my 2.175" rims? I only ask because I have some old (10yrs+) 2.2 tyres and they dont seem to fit right.

I'm running 2.2in tires on my 2.175 associated rims. It works, just make sure you use a good rubber band that holds the tire to the rim tightly in the bead when gluing. Be sure to test fit them first though, some 2.2in tires are stretched slightly larger and wont fit properly. I run 1/4" axles on my runners and have four options: the associated 2.175 rims, yokomo 30 series rims (2.2in) and adapters, the hpi adapter and jammin rims, or old trinity 2.2in rims. If you switch to 3/16" axles, I think your only option is to use B2/B3 rear rims.

Restarting this post...

I need tires and wheels for my T2 chassied buggy...
I used this CVD kit

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXAV59&P=ML

So I get that I could use evader wheels and tires?
these are 2.125 wheels right? (2 and 1/8). Is this the same as 2.175 from associated?
Do I have to stick with Duratrax tires?
Do the front wheels use only metric bearings?

These are the tires and wheels to use?
