Wow! I have now driven this machine and I am blown away by the power! I am really happy with how this project has come out and it is exactly as I'd hoped.

I have dialled down some of the profile settings in the esc and this thing is still a weapon. A full set of brand new tyres went on and after around 15 minutes out on the road they look like they were worn out back in the 80's

Seriously though, I am chuffed with this car.

Would also like to thank JAY DUB for some extra goodies that went into this build. A 'special rod set' and universals went into the rear of this car.

Nothing too much to worry about really. This thing is fast though and is definately a handful to drive at speed. I did impact a gutter side on with one of the huge power drifts around a big bend. Basicaly the car lost traction as I drifted it full tilt round a large bend and side swiped the gutter. It was a hard hit that only left a few scuffs on the LH side rims.

Eric I did at one point think of running less cells but I figured i'd deal with the power when I got to it. I have gone into the throttle profiles and wound things down a little to make the power a little more easy to deal with. There was never any intention to race this thing, just happy to let it stretch it's legs out on wide open grassed spaces. Finaly a buggy I can take anywhere and not worry about suitability to the grounds surface. It's safe to say this thing will go more places than most of my 1/10th buggies will.

I am still a huge fan of the Optima series of buggies and I consider this car the big brother of those. It's ultra cool having something this robust that i can take out and enjoy with my sons in the park without having to worry too much about something coming off or breaking.

I am soon to get started on a box stock original BURNS that I also want to fit out a similar electric conversion to. I have another new body ready to go and look to painting it in the Optima livery.

This has to be one of the most interesting posts i have read in a while, and one that is going to make my wife roll her eyes. A vintage car that can handle Lipo power. It is what I have been looking for. Thank you.

What is the receiver mounted on? it seems to float above the center drive shaft...

It's good to know that you guys like the job I have done on this classic car.

The receiver is mounted on top of the radio plate which also mounts the steering servo too.

Can't wait to see the Optima version. It would be cool if you can get a 1/8 wheel and tyre combo that looks the same as the original Optima one.
