My Traxxas TRX-3 & TCP Projects
Hey everyone. Just finished up my vintage Traxxas TRX-3. Just need a body for it at this point. I need to find out if I can use a new Bandit body for it. If anyone can help there???? Also have most of a second car that I need to dump to find the rest of my TCP project. Started to assemble the TCP then realized that I want to get a new carbon fiber chassis and shock towers as well as die the white parts black. Also want to find a set of MIP CVD's for it but not sure what will fit. If anyone can help there?? It's a work in progress. Let me know what you guys think.

Re: My Traxxas TRX-3 & TCP Projects
I have this body sitting on my TCP now (The picture is from another car)

I'll need to trim the lower chassis a bit, but otherwise it fits really well and to me it looks way better than the original body or bandit body.
(I suppose you refer to the old style bandit? I tried a used one on the TCP and it looked bad and fitted worse)

Actually I was thinking about a Jconcepts High speed body for bandit vxl. I will consider anything that fits and looks good tho

The Bandit body is way too long for the TRX-3. Even though the style is very similar, it doesn't even come close to fitting. Best body I've found is the Associated B3 body. Takes a bit of custom trimming around the rear shock tower, but fit surprisingly well and looks very similar to the original TRX-3 body.

Re: My Traxxas TRX-3 & TCP Projects
So I pulled apart my tcp and am selling of the chassis and shock towers. I ordered new chassis and shock towers for Fibre Lyte today. I also dyed the bulkhead, wheels, tranny case and a few other parts black. I will post some updated soon

Looks like you have a very good start to an awesome project
The Fibre-Lyte products are very good quality, I have some myself. Looking at your post makes me want to complete my SRT/TCP projects which have been at idle for a few months. You can find my projects here...

Re: My Traxxas TRX-3 & TCP Projects
Thanks. I just broke down the TCP and finished dyeing all the white parts black. Ordered the new chassis and shock towers. Just looking for a new set of MIP cvds that will work but not sure which ones yet. Going to also have the motor plate powder coated if its not too much $$. Looking forward to seeing it completed.

Thnx. Here's a couple more pics. Just waiting on the MIP CVD bones and prices on powder coating the motor plate & of course the body. Still not sure what to use there.

Re: My Traxxas TRX-3 & TCP Projects
Looks good so far! I have been working on my TCP/SRT projects as well. Just uploaded some recent pictures.
As far as the powder coating goes, I would recommend this user LTO_Dave. He does great work for a great price. You can check out his work in my thread.
The CVD’s are a little harder to find, although I did just recently see some on eBay. Hopefully you were able to pick them up.
So do you plan on running your TCP once completed or shelf it?

Re: My Traxxas TRX-3 & TCP Projects
This will sit on a shelf for sure. I did see the bones set on ebay but did not win. I'm actually creating a CVD set from individual parts that I hope will work (after some trial and error). I have to admit I really like your project and they were what inspired me to do mine. I was just going to dump the car but decided not to. I will try to pm that guy and see what happens. Thanks for your imput
