Re: rc18t diff issues
You must have done something wrong as I had the rc18b with the same diffs and lots of packs on it, even 3s and never had any problems. I can't recall using thread locker though and it's been awhile since I had it.

Re: rc18t diff issues
i will find out tonight... i think it might have been one of the washers that came with the mip superdiffs, there was half a washer, and a bunch of little metal chunks... maybe i tightened it too much and it disintegrated....
i will be running it tonight and see if rebuilding helped

Re: rc18t diff issues
if the thrust assembly was damaged, then that is definitely the cause of it loosening. Be sure to put the right grease in the right place as directed in the instructions. Don't worry though, those parts are hardened and can easily shatter even if being careful, so it's more than likely a faulty part, unless there wasn't enough grease on them. They are absolutely considered 'wear items'. There is a thread here from LTO-Dave that shows pictures of a transmission with fragmented diff rings, so it can happen to any part in the trans.
The diff rings in that assembly appear to be a 'D' notch, so CA isn't really needed, but it won't hurt anything either.

Re: rc18t diff issues
it wasnt the diff rings that shattered, it wsa the little washers
i put diff ball grease on both parts.... i know what the instructions say, but i had diff ball grease.....
so... i'm happy to report, 2 batteries through it... and NO ISSUES!!!!!!!

it does sound like a weird noise coming from the spur/pinion, but... i cant see any binding or obstruction, and all seemed to be fine, so i will run it, until it wont move
