? about JC Racing RC10 B3 wheels

Post by 2500M_Sub »

I am interested in purchasing some of those cool 5 star JC racing wheels and see that they offer some for the B3. I am wondering though if they are made for the standard B3 or the team version with the MIP cvd axles? Also the front rims are marked narrow? Does that mean i wont be able to mount standard 2.2 front tires for example proline? I sent JC Racing an email but figured I would ask the experts here to hopefully get a quicker answer.

Thanks,

Ren

my guess is that they are for 3/16" axles, since they make the 1/4" axle version as the 'standard' rc10 wheels. The fronts are 'narrow' in that they are like the old school width wheels but 2.2" diameter. This limits front tire selection a little bit, or, the front tires fit on and kind of balloon a little on the wheel. that's personal preference.

Cool, I dont mind a little ballooning as there are not many wheel options for the B3. Not a huge fan of the dish type and from what i have read the duratrax and thunder tiger options are not as durable as the originals.

Appreciate it,

The Thunder Tiger wheels aren't too bad as opposed to Duratrax (chips/cracks easily). I agree overall the TT wheels don't seem as durable as Asso's, but still better than the old Proline versions with the super weak center pieces in the rears. The front TT wheels come in the "wide" width also, not the narrow style.

I'd like to get a few sets of JC's also, just haven't got around to it yet.

You can buy just the rims or with tires mounted...
Wheel Front Phoenix BX II/XB2 - TTRPD8979
Front Wheels and Tires Phoenix BX II/XB2 TTRPD8977
Wheel Rear Phoenix BX II/XB2 TTRPD8982
Rear Wheels and Tires Phoenix BX II/XB2 TTRPD8980

I bought just the rims for a decent price, I used them on a resto project for a co-worker.
The color I'd say is true white not the Asso off white nylon, they don't look like Duratrax rims either.
I've read here they take dye OK also.

I'd rather buy the JC Racing set, I just wish I could order though a LHS or a US distributer *hint-hint* if they're reading this
