rc12l4

Post by styarr »

im an off road kinda guy but iv always fancied a go at 1/12th carpet racing, so i searched ebay for ae 12ths and found a 12l4 rolling chassis with shell and spares, £57 so im quite chuffed with myself to say the least, so while im waiting on it being delivered i thought id get some electrics together, so far iv got a 19t reedy brushed motor and a lrp 17t, mtroniks ip6 esc, and an old acoms transmitter/receiver i just need a servo and cells now but im on a really tight budget  what size servo will fit a 12th micro, mini, plain old steering servo ? and where can i get some decent cells pretty cheap ? anyway iv rambled on long enough now and any replies will be helpfull

thanks guys

Plain old servo will fit but i was running a futaba9650. I ran mine on a carpet banked oval up until last season, it was compeditive with the modern 12r5 actually.

The 9650 is rather expensive though. Get a Hitec 225MG (metal gears), which should be about half the price of the Futaba 9650...

a normal one wont fit very well at all. and if your going to race it, all of the tracks I have seen they are running lipo's and 17.5 brushless in the 12scales. ita a little much I think. mine with a 4 cell and brushed was a missle.

Talk about a missle, i ran mine on a 13.5 with a 1 lipo at our last race. lapped the field every 3 or 4 laps

Not very well, probably why the front of the chassis is split now.

Yes, but you're better off with its metal-geared version (225MG, has ball bearings and metal gears). Apparently the plastic-geared version can strip fairly easily if you hit something or use the wrong servo-saver.
