Who here has a Sand Scorcher?

Honestly, I'd just try it with the 540 first if I were you, especially if you've never driven one before. If you're used to something like an RC10, a Sand Scorcher will feel like driving a shopping cart. One of the good ones, without the one wobbly wheel, but a shopping cart nonetheless. It's fun, especially on loose surfaces where it will slide instead of traction rolling, but it does take some getting used to. Once you've got the feel of a heavy, narrow car with hideous suspension geometry, then go for it.

Also be aware that the little clear cover on the backside of the gearbox actually holds the motor in place. There are no motor screws. So you either have to stick with a motor the same dimensions as a standard 540, or drill holes in the motor plate behind the spur gear to use traditional motor-mouting screws.

I've heard good words about those Radshape chassis; I've been considering one for my Buggy Champ at some point.

Thanks - I really appreciate the comments here guys. I tried to fit my old brushed motor into it and its too big. Guess I will try and find one. I did take it all apart tonight to get it ready for the ball diff install. Also noticed that the inside gears are exactly like a stealth tranny. Then I took apart my extra stealth and the bearings in it fit the Tamiya exactly. So then I wondered if the steath slipper would work too - but I haven't got around to that yet.

I've also been looking at this RC Channel metal kit:

It upgrades the rear end with hubs which I think will help the handling a lot.

But here's my question for all the experts here - is there anything for the front end suspension and steering?
