Bike Thieves hit home ...

Post by drbelleville »

So this morning go take the dog for a walk, did our rounds, :) head back to the house and think, hmmmm  - "car looks a bit naked?" Well Holy Moly *#@! someone stole my Thule Bike rack ! I guess they "pried / cut" the straps off, as one of the stock rails was damaged! All the rack and tray locks were locked though, so hopefully it will be rendered unuseable, although I am sure they will find a way around that. I had TIG welded some custom wheel carriers and made a stabilizer for the thru axle adapter, that is what has me most pissed - all that work and now its gone!

Pic is too big, so here is my CL ad to note the damage and maybe someone there can help.

Oh, and I stated bike thieves, as they would be the only ones to have any idea of what it is.

Thanks for the support guys, so I was thinking of ways to maybe make it harder, and came upon these audible alarm locks for motorcycles - XENA.

So my next rack, when ever I can afford to replace it it will get one of these bad boys! Heck even get one for the bikes themselves.

check it out - US distributor : http://www.lockandloud.com/

If you know anyone who has been affected by bike theft or other wise this might be a good investment, pass it on

I hate thieves. Get a job and work for stuff like everyone else!

Off topic but I see that you are in Houston. I live in Clear Lake. Where are you at?

Up north west in Cypress - you go to any tracks around here, mikes perhaps? Now I am wrestling with the estimator, as they have never had to replace a bike rack before -

I go to Mikes on a rare occasion. MM is far more convenient and is small enough that I can easily see the whole thing.
