B3 rebuild into purple racer
This is my B3 that was a basher/racer and I freshened with new parts and had for sale recently. With no takers I decided to keep her (not much B3 love apparently, but I really like them) and do a few upgrades and anodizing color modifications. This will be converted into a racer with no bashing (I have enough parts from another B3 to make that the new basher). A few parts from Fibre Lyte, a brand new carbon composite chassis, I've added the metal rear trans brace which I had done in purple, the aluminum front bulkhead I had before redone in purple, motor plate/trans plate/kickup in purple, and some other stuff like Dynotech B3 front arms and she'll be ready for my electronics choice.

Re: B3 rebuild into purple racer
RPM B2 carpet arms, they were 1/8" shorter per side compared to the stock B2 arm and way shorter than a B3 arm- I don't recall them making a B3 carpet arm though. The shorter arms for the B2 were also the only ones made for the B2, they didn't make stock by memory.flipwils11 wrote:Here you go.Phin wrote:Oooh ooh. Love that rear tower! Is it a copy of Masami's worlds B3 tower?

Re: B3 rebuild into purple racer
Wow not what I was expecting. Thanks for the comparison pic flipwils11, it's much appreciated.
DT sells them as B3 carpet arms, and when I emailed them about the pin to pin length I was told it was 2.54", which made me think they were a bit longer than RPM Worlds arms...but that pic makes 'em look a touch shorter. I also didn't realize the arm mount width was closer in size to the buggy arm mounts, thought they were the size of the RC10T's front bulkhead.
Was planning on trying them out for the Houge trailing arm buggy I'm gathering parts for and now I'm wondering if those carpet arms, on an uncut buggy nose, with original caster/steering blocks, and B4 wheels will stay under a legal width.

The RPM B2 carpet arm was 2.54 center to center-Phin wrote:DT sells them as B3 carpet arms, and when I emailed them about the pin to pin length I was told it was 2.54"
RPM Worlds 91', RPM B2 Carpet arm, Stock B2 composite-

Re: B3 rebuild into purple racer
Now I'm just confused. Those sizes against the RPM Worlds arms is about what I had pictured originally, but the DT carpet arms in flips pic don't look nearly as long as those actual RPM B2 carpet arms.
What I had imagined was that the extra length on the carpet arms (@2.54") would make up for the offset on B4 wheels without having to use B4 caster blocks or GT axles.

Re: B3 rebuild into purple racer
yeah, that is definitely confusing. the B3 arms above are roughly worlds arm size, so would be great on a nose plate, either trimmed stock with stock arm mounts, or a 10T plate with narrowed truck arm mount. Or just use the klien arms.
but they would make Adams car narrow in the front, compared to standard B3 arms.
does 'carpet' imply that you use wide foam tires up front, needing a narrowed arm width? I can see the B2 carpet arms doing just that. But then the B3 arms are narrower still?

Re: B3 rebuild into purple racer
The B2 carpet arm (at least in the oval crowd) were mainly used as a RF arm only, giving a little better bite on corner entry than the stock B2- I never saw them used anywhere else, and all the foam tires were standard offset or deeper offset anyhow-
And.....Joe, measurement tonight for sure!
