Re: Jamin's Losi XX-CR - Trinity porn!!!
One hot XX just got hotter!!
I've got that blue pivot plate on my XXX... was it a direct fit on the earlier car?... I can remember those hubs being available too, around the time I brought the XXX (Which would have been one of the first editions) back in 1999. I need to also find myself one of the early transmission braces (like what you have on this car)... I have two of the type with 'ears' but my original car had the earlier part without them.
Ben, I reckon you should try on your blue motor plate?

Re: Jamin's Losi XX-CR - Trinity porn!!!
Thanks Dan! Still trying to evolve this into my perfect XX, and its nearly there.
Trinity made 2 different pivot plates, one for the XX and the other for the XXX. The XX version is wider as the pivot pins are further apart. I've used the XX one on this build, but plan on using the XXX one I have on my XXT build.
I have only ever seen one early transmission brace since I've been restoring this car, and I snapped it up quickly! I too have the one with ears, but it doesn't look right does it?
Funny, as I thought about putting the blue plate on, but gonna save it for the XXT. I am starting to think that the blue plate will be too much and that it will be better using a polished plate and shiny CVD's to match, but thats for my other build thread...
Actually, I've decided this car needs one more part to make this perfect... a Trinity blue flake front shock tower! As per Cedric's mighty fine example...
Anyone?!?!?!?!?!

Arrrgh! LOL!.... I actually have one (although for some reason I think the the 'flecks' are green on the one I have?) ...... this thread caused me to have a look through the box of bits that I have collected for my new-build car, this included my small collection of Trinity parts, the 'flake' graphite tower, blue front brace & rear trans brace (with 'ears' lol!) & the blue pivot plate (which i'd forgotten i'd brought!

Thing is I'm now confused with what direction i'm going in with my build, originally I intended to build it up to the spec of my original racer from back in the 90s... but that was built very much on a budget - its only upgrades were the two Trinity braces, RPM gear cover, Fibrelyte shock tower & machined motor plate... & I even think that I only had one pair of Titanium turnbuckles, on the rear only!
Sooo now I have many more upgrades than my original car... so my thoughts were that I'd build a car to the spec, given more of a budget - parts I would have brought Bitd if I had the money, now; does the Trinity shock tower fit into this? I have the Fibrelyte Carbon one as fitted on my original car... but the Trinity one kinda completes the set of Trinity parts I have.
However it would be very nice to contribute to this very sexy DoubleX, Ben - if you want my shock tower I'd be willing to sell it to you.... i'll PM you later

Re: Jamin's Losi XX-CR - Trinity porn!!!
Hey Dan, sorry to cause you all this unrest!!!! hehheee
Sounds to me like you need to build TWO cars! An all-out one and a replica of your BITD car
Thanks for the kind offer on the shock tower, although I think you should keep it for your car, they are so hard to come by. I notice there is a XXX one on ebay right now, no-way that will fit though
Odd that you think that the flakes are green, the two I have seen are definitely blue in colour. Post a pic up when you get a chance
Good that you already have a blue pivot too!!

Re: Jamin's Losi XX-CR - Trinity porn!!!
Mmm, just been holding the part up to the light & on close inspection it seems we have both green & blue 'flecks' within the material.. here's a pic of the part, the camera seems to highlight the blue more than the green?

That XXX shock tower seems to have been on Ebay for quite a while now!

Actually, looking again at the picture in your link, it looks to be a different item (judging by the wear & price label position on the header card).... but it would have been around the same period I guessjamin wrote:Hey Dan, call me a super sleuth - but I did some googling the other night and came across this auction from 2009:

Re: Jamin's Losi XX-CR - Its all sparkly!
A MASSIVE thanks to DerbyDan for this item, a NIP Trinity Shock tower, dare I say now my build is complete!?!?!? I am super happy with it, just need to paint a couple of body shells and its pretty much done, unless I come across some parts that I have missed/forgotten about, I think its pretty much there now.
Here are some pics with the shock tower - looks awesome in the direct sunlight, which it was today.
Over and out.....for now

Re: Jamin's Losi XX-CR - Its all sparkly!
Got to say, that looks the absolute Mutts Nuts!!.... If I ever see another of those shock towers for sale i'll probably snap it up! Looks like you've managed to capture the 'sparklyness' really well with your camera... certainly to me, it didn't look all that sparkly inside the packet!
Glad to have been able to help in contributing to this lovely build - it sure is one of the finest XXs on this forum & a real credit to you.
I wonder if in the future you could add period electrics... obviously they'd all have to be new/unused items... i'm thinking Novak Cyclone or LRP ICS speed controller, Trinity motor & some Ex-tech 2000s... but the peice de resistance would be a Novak Mercury reciever!
