Who Catalogs their RC collection for insurance purposes?

So I've been thinking lately about what would happen if something happened, robbery, fire, etc. about what I'd lose of my RC collection. I have a lot tied up not so much in vintage, but more current racers. So I was wondering who here catalogs their collection of RC cars parts and equipment and how they do so?

My insurance just pays a set amount for all personal property. if you have a collection you need to have it cataloged and insured separately and pay for it every month.

My collection is only insured under my general houshold insurance. The only additional precaution i take is making sure i can prove to the insurers, should the worst happen, that i own all these cars. So my photobucket account keeps a record

i didn't worry about doing it with my r/c stuff, but i do have all of my nascar diecast cataloged. mainly to keep from buying doubles.

i figure if my house burns to the ground, my collectible toys will be the last thing i'll be worried about.

I've only cataloged my complete collection of NIB Tamiyas from 1980-1998 and given it to my insurance agent.

Seeing that I was just robbed blind, I would definitely atleast have pics of EVERYTHING, no matter how small!!!

Insurance or not after the adjuster comes along and pickes apart your policey your screwed anyway . You pay they don't . Look at katrina victoms with weather damage and insurance says flood damage .

Can't say much about that because I don't know the facts, but what I can say is this:

Don't go cheap on your homeowner's! I have insurance thru Erie and I was young and dumb when I bought the policy. It turns out it was a good thing. They must have sold me everything they had including what they call "Ultra Coverage". I had put off switching homeowner's even though I had been told by several companies that mine seemed "a bit high". I'm glad I did. Our house was struck by lightning last June and it fried half the house and half the stuff in it. It's strange how it made it's way thru my wiring. I was in a hotel for 10 weeks. All paid for(meals and beer included no joke). That's a whole other story though.

Long story short I couldn't have been happier with my insurance. Took care of everything start to finish with no hassle because I was "over covered". Worth $20 a month extra to me. Everything is nicer than before I only had to spend on what I wanted to upgrade. Just a word to the wise, take a good look at your policy and don't be cheap. Nothing is more important and you'll realize that quickly if you have a tragedy.

FWIW I just ran the numbers on mine and it's worth 50 cents. Why is there no "cents" sign on a keyboard? I've asked that question for 20 years...

yep, same here...and frankly can't afford to insure it. Between my slot cars and rc I would pry die inside if I had a fire
