Well, I picked up my first RC10 today and wow, this is gonna be some serious work. The chassis is severely bent along with the nose piece. The rest of it appears to be in decent shape though. The front arms a bit beat up but the shocks look pretty good and the trans seems to be fine. The car is a 6010, A stamp Cadillac (have the box as well but it's in rough shape). The Reedy stock motor also shows Cadillac and is in decent shape. The stock wheels are in fair shape and the stock tires (labeled Team Associated) are mounted to them though they are pretty rough (was obviously used on the street). The diamond in the rough is on the right side of the picture. I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure it's an original, brand new, Associated wing with buttons, set screws, and wire.




Tough to tell in this picture but Associated 6184 is stamped in the lexan


In regard to the chassis, is it worth it to get it straightened out? There arent any creases in it but it is bent up pretty good.

Looks nice to me! Yes the wing and buttons are original.

if it is going to be a shelfer, straightening the chassis may leave marks, light runner/full runner, straighten it and have a blast.

Shoot a picture of the bend, I've seen some really bad ones straighten up really nice & easy.

It had a good 20 degrees of kick on the chassis It bent the front chassis braces even. A buddy is going to give me a straight chassis that is well used and I'll just make this one a runner I imagine. I'd like to get my hands on an Edinger for Christmas (which means I'll be buying it myself) but if that doesnt work out I'll start getting the correct parts to make this one a shelf queen.

I did take a stab at straightening the chassis today. That lil bastard is strong! Makes you appreciate the hit it took. I got it straight enough to run but it does have at least a mm of tweak in it still.

Picked up another RC10 with a bunch of parts (not even sure what all there is yet). Should be able to build a nice runner out of the two Speed control looks to be new.

Was looking at the chassis above tonight and it is one of the units that was stamped extremely hard with the A showing from the bottom of the chassis as well. The shocks that are on it are indicative of a Cadillac but I'm not if they were on it originally. Were the strong A stamps associated with an Edinger, Cadillac, or both? I'd like to restore it as acurately as possible.

Besides the wheels (original ones are the front and rear spares you have on the 1st picture) it appears to be all original. It's definitely not an "Edinger" RC10. The only things missing would be an additional battery cup to install the battery perpendicular to the chassis, an original gear cover and last but not least a front and a rear jelly bean rims. Good luck with the bent chassis and kick-up, that will be the tough part! Keep us posted!

So all of the deep stamp "A" chassis' were Cadillacs?

since all the stamping appears to have been done at least semi-manually, just having an A puts it as an 'A' revision chassis, which happened to have a heavy handed operator that day.

After being on this forum and seeing all of the different variations during production, I think that you really can't separate a mid-late 'edinger' from an early-mid 'cadillac' with much confidence, and really, I think alot of unnecessary emphasis is placed on this stuff. Other than a really early unit with specific parts, any short arm car is really just a mid production RC10. how you decide to flush out the assembly is really your preference.

Between the two cars, I was able to find enough parts in decent shape for the rebuild. The chassis was in good shape with the exception of a few extra holes One was drilled into the side (access to servo horn screw maybe?) and two were drilled into the bottom (no guesses on what those were for). I have the nylon bits soaking in peroxide at the moment and will probably leave them in there until tomorrow when I come home from work (will give them about 36 totals hours).

I started the reassembly process this morning and I'm actually pretty pleased with how everything has cleaned up. The peroxide bath made a bit a difference in the yellowing of the parts (sunlight is scarce at our place this time of year because of the trees to the south) but the process did make a difference and I'm glad I took the time to do it. I'll start working on the shocks now and should have it all buttoned up by the end of the night.

Great job with the parts looks great,,what % peroxide did you use and how long did you bath them??

I just used off the shelf hydrogen peroxide which I believe was 3%. Total time in the solution was about 36 hours and I had very limited actual sunshine. I did spend a ton of time cleaning them with dish detergent and a tooth brush prior to the soak.
