i smoked a couple more butts down in the garage, but now i'm out of them. i'm ok if i stay in the house where there arent any. the house is already starting to smell better. tomorrow at work is gonna suuuhhhhuuuck.
dudes, smoking butts out of the garbage... i'm so proud.

Re: =next saturday i quit smoking=
bringin up an oldie.. Hoop, how is the quitting going? Update on my wife. I bought her the Chantix and the nicotine gum.. She ended up quitting cold turkey (no chantix and only one piee of gun) and it going on a month now.. She could not believe how bad she stunk and was apoligizing to friends who 'smelled' her all these years.. lol.. When someone comes in that smoked she almost gets ill from the smell on them..
Im so proud of her... she smoked for 26 years..

I have not smoked in about 10 years now, and every once in a great while I'd still like one. Hope you've been able to kick the habit, Hoop.

Good luck Hoopty, I tried to quit also but I have no will power to do it. I was going to try the chantix script to but my ins wouldn't cover it. I didn't hae the 150 bucks up front to pay for the first month of it so needless to say Im still smoking. I hope that lung thing you got turns out ok, I am only two years younger than you and that posting scared the crap out of me. maybe i'll have to stop buying parts to get that script. Good luck Hoop!!

Re: =next saturday i quit smoking=
just keep trying hoopty, it's all you can do. i used to smoke when i was a teenager and stopped when i started boxing and didn't touch one for about 10 years, i found it really easy to stop for some reason. then 3 years ago i got a new job which was pretty stressful and i worked with a smoker. it didn't take me long to light one up and i ended up getting through about ten a day before long. that went on for about a year and my workmate quit and was replaced by a non smoker so i thought 'right, i'll just stop again'. it was hell, i was an animal to work with and i struggled for nearly 6 months before i made it through a whole week without one. but earlier you said you want to use your hatred of cigarettes to your advantage, thats the way forward mate. i used to think 'nobody can make me do something i dont want to do but this little cigarette makes me light up all the time' its crazy.
i'm not anti smoking, each to their own, but i dont like it and its such a shame to see people spending good money on something that doesn't serve any benefits whatsoever. good luck anyway dude, and like i said, just keep trying cos trying (even if you're unsuccessful) is better than not and eventually trying will turn into doing.

That's how I quit, though it was more of a stubborn streak than hatred. I still had the same intent, no little tobacco stick is going to control me! I tossed a full pack into the trash and walked away. Quitting is definitely a mind set, it doesn't make the physical addiction any easier to get past, but it does give you the will power persevere.Volumiza wrote:earlier you said you want to use your hatred of cigarettes to your advantage, thats the way forward mate. i used to think 'nobody can make me do something i dont want to do but this little cigarette makes me light up all the time' its crazy.
Most likely propaganda and scare tactics to either keep you from smoking or to make you want to quit. While the chemical addiction to nicotine can be a tough one to break, I would not put it in the same league as narcotics, or even prescription drugs, which have far more abusers than tobacco.FlyinGN wrote:I have been told by doctors that for some its a harder addiction then herion to stop.. I dunno.. The morning after my wife quit she could not hardly drive to work.. She called me when she got in and was a total mess.. Crying and shaking and could not think straight.

Keep trying Hoopty, You can do it. I am going to give it another shot right after I smoke this whole carton I bought. I'm going to try the gum though. I went five hours at work today without smoking and thought I was going to die but Im starting to not like the taste of it anymore. Try again Hoopty, maybe that road trip will do you some good.

Talk about a tough habit to kick. My dad is 62 and his doctor put him on cigarettes at age 5 for asthma. His lungs near collapsed last Christmas and he quit cold turkey, for 3 months
.
My grandma died at 70 of lung failure. She spent the last 10 years of her life with less than 10% of 1 lung left. The other was shot.
Luckily for me, I have an allergic reaction to cig smoke when I am near it. There is no way I could smoke regularly.
I will be thinking of you Hoop and praying you get this beat. You can do it. My dad's neighbor threw a quarter in the yard every time she got a desire to smoke. She quit after a couple weeks of that. She said just the site of seeing all those quarters in the yard made her physically sick.
Good luck buddy and let em know if you need anything.

He's an idiot. Comes from upbringing. His parents are probably idiots too.
