Thanks Rick, a lot of work and thought has gone into it, but still a few things to try!

Seems I've become a bit of a wheel whore!!! But who can pass up on great deals of hard to find items :?:

I got plans for the natural ones, currently testing my plan with some XXT wheels, just to see if the effect will give me what I have in my head

Progress has been slow on all my RC projects lately (its been too nice to sit around and build RC cars), but as the nights are drawing in now I took some time out last night to get my Jammin shell fitted & prep'd for masking/paint.

Hopefully I can complete this next week - the shell looks sooooooooo much nicer than the standard XX one IMO.

For now here it is fitted up to the car, I took the pic with my phone so its not that great quality though. I'll take some better pics at the weekend, just for the record.

Ben - do you have any ideas on what colour scheme you are going for? Something suitably vintage or are you sticking with your 'team' design?

P.S; this is currently on ebay.uk at the moment - the shell appears to be a Jammin one.... indeed its the colours of a fellow racer from back-in-the-day, Mark Paice who raced (& i believe still does to a degree) at the Silverstone club

I am going for the same design, boring I know, but I do have some new trinity stickers to use on it :D

Yeah, I saw you post that on FB the other day - the spares look pretty beat up, definately a Jammin shell, good for a project I guess.

The last body I used on my XX is still in excellent condition, I will have to post a picture of it - the wing is in a state though as it seems the cat has chewed the end plates - dont laugh!!

Have you built your NIB one yet!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I really like your shell design - so its all good in my eyes 8)

Would like to see a picture of your old used shell, my car along with its shell is long-gone but a mate still has the Excellorator shell that I sprayed for his XX Bitd, its still hanging up in his garage & shares the design of my shell but with the base colour being metallic red rather than blue :)

My NIB XX is still sitting in its box i'm afraid, certainly one for a rainy day.... I have so many other projects (R/C + other) to complete first, including my VW -as you know  It will get built one day, but its nice knowing its there ready for me :D .... P.S; Are you ever going to use that blue motor plate?.... Will prob try & get my machined one anodised blue as per the one that was on my old buggy.

Here's a pic of the XX shell that was on the car before I started this build, BITD when I had plenty of time to spend countless hours masking and airbrushing! I think it must be around 14 years old, and it has been raced believe it or not.

I agree with the whole NIB thing though, you've got it 'banked' so its up to you when to build it. I plan on using the blue motor plate for my XXT G+, but I've decided on doing another build before it now, something a little more interesting, and I am gonna start with the body shell as thats the bit which is probably the hardest in terms of work/effort.

If you want to get your plate done, call Metal Treatments in Portsmouth, they did Paul Upton's 22 and some bits for me. Very friendly, cheap and quick turn around. Is your plate new? I can still get new ones, in fact I've bought about 4 in the past couple of months

Wow that is one sweet shell! Not bad at all for a 14yr old! Especially when I think back to some of the bodies that I painted at that age :|

Regarding the motorplate - yes mine is NIP - the online store I brought it from, listed a whole load of XX parts & I was suprised when they all turned up! :D Unfortunately its one of the stores that went bust earlier this year (for some reason cannot remember the name)

I will contact Metal Treatments when I'm ready, they certainly did a good job on Paul's parts - I do have a used machined plate on my modified Cobra which has the correct early style machining pattern so it might be worth buffing that up & sending that...... it would be nice to get my Worlds RC10 chassis re-done at the same time

I probably worded that badly - I meant the shell was 14 years old, not me! I would of been about 20 when I did that I think.

Ha-ha was going to say that the time-line of things didn't seem to tally up - especially as i'm guessing that you are a similar age to me.

Still doesn't take anything away from your smart shell....

P.S; Any idea what paint that purple is? It looks so deep & rich!

Its Pactra Grape Pearl - I've used that for many years, even on my TC - if you can remember back to 2006!

I am not able to see in the sell/buy/tade forum or the wanted forum but I have a set of the Blue/Pink springs that came in the XX-CR kit.
