New Racer for a new track grand opening-

Post by Charlie don't surf »

I started this project as a response to another new members thread http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=23453 and I was just going to quickly slap this together to show that there is a cheap and easy way to make one competitive ( assuming you can wheel  ) But he seems to be on his way now so all that work ( only a couple of hours ) went for nothing  .

But, then I remembered that the " local " track that I was racing on that had shut down mostly due to having to run the " goat scrotum " tires is re-opening on the 15th of this month with a brand new owner and new Cali style blue groove sand/clay/calcite surface- So, time to build a new car!!

I always got attention at the races with the 10 and the 10T, but the raw chassis and black parts confused some guys big time and they just were not sure what I had. But, nothing mistakes a gold pan and white parts 8)

So after replacing the bottom loaders with the top loading shocks, the front 15deg blocks with 25's, the steel inline axels and carriers with the 6221's, the steering bellcranks to the BB ( white worlds 8) ) style, moving the battery cup up to the 7 cell position, replacing the cut up rear bulkhead ( didn't actually need to ) Installing a Stealth, B2 CVD's, 0deg rear truck carriers ( need more of these in white if anyone has some to spare) and installing a graphite tranny brace and proline Feather lite rear wheels and proline wide front wheels, I am actually ( well not technically ) done and it is ready to race-

Of course while I was out getting Greene's car I just had to stop by the LHS to get some Ti screws, Ti Turnbuckles, etc etc

One of Jay's RCPS Turbo Mirages, of course I have to get you to apply the Florescent yellow in it first

I have more to do ( of course ), I am going to cut the sides of the chassis down by 1/4", the motor plate, and the front of the nose and the back of the nose- shorten the nose brace tubes and sand the rest of the edges probably send this one to Jake as well for the outer worlds milling service too 8)

Those are some of the infamous "goat scrotum" slicks with pool noodle closed cell inserts. I haven't run the new surface yet, but these are outlawed anyway.

That is a good looking buggy.
Don't forget, I have 2 full cars to play with. One of them I'm going to completley modernize. The other one I'm torn between restoring, as you have done here, and turning it into an RC10T.
However, seeing your car here, I'm now leaning toward restoring. :D

Hey Reg, that thing looks sweet! Definitely no mistaking an original gold and white RC10 8)

I may have an extra set of white 0 degree rear carriers nip, I'll take a look for ya.

Awesome to see Reggie! That's why I too prefer to race the gold tub w gold shocks RC10 CE w Stealth too!
Car looks amazing on the track nowdays and you'll get quite a stir since everything else out there looks like shades of "gray" (mostly all other cars are black nowdays).

I too am running my RC10 CE gold tub runners once more this weekend.
Really throws people when you purposely use fiberglass towers instead of graphite ones too!!!

Good luck Buddy!

They pushed the grand opening until 10/15 and I won't be able to attend, but the following Wednesday I will be- maybe I can get some 2wd class action together!!!

Ruffy, I had been keeping all the white parts but not running them- and its hard for me to do, but I think it will be great!!!!

I used to always race with white parts back in the 80's so for me it's isnt a big deal at all, in fact I prefer to use white over black parts...this way it looks more old school.
I'm glad to see you are doing it as well. Wait until you hit the track, you'll have a big following of old schoolers coming over to see your buggy!
Nice job on a great runner build. The Gold Anodized CE is my favorite racer still today.
