Hey guys,

I went to my first race in 15 years on Sat and I was definitely slower than the field. I seemed to be lacking on the straights and launching off the jumps. Everyone else was clearing the doubles and I had to roll them. The 22 handled great otherwise though.

I am using the stock spur and 25 pinion. Shorty lipo and Tekin RS 13.5. I thought I would be in the ball park with this setup but no.

One thing I did notice was my motor was like an ice cube at the end of a 5 minute heat.

Does this sound like gearing? Any suggestions?

I would say gearing. Most team guys recommend starting at 28 with a 10.5. I personally run a non boosted 17.5 and gear 37/72 (ae spur).

I run my 22 last weekend and sad to say that the diff felt gritty after 2 Runs. :( well i think i need to get that Bfast thingy on order. well anyway the car handled great on Jumps but i was a bit surprised when i try to clear big jumps. The car would tend to twist in mid Air. to the right.. yes to the right, at first i thought its because of the motor, but i was using a Read motor config. So after that i tried again and got the same results, the car would tend to twist to the right in mid Air when i jumps... so whats the problem?i'm thinking it has something to do with the shock absorber or something. Im using stick pack and the ESC is placed on the rear Tower, the car is pretty much balanced.

Off to check my Diff and rebuild my shocks and see if that will solve my twisting jump...

Good start - check to make sure all the shocks are built correctly, with no binding. Also make sure the chassis components are moving freely without binding. Make sure ride height is set evenly from one side to the other.

Sounds like on the diff that you ran it too loose on the first few runs. Run the slipper looser and the diff tighter. You probably need to flip the diff rings over at this point and start over if you already heated everything up.

Chris, if you are in the know....

When does the 22 RTR hit the shelves, and what are the main differences (other than kit vs RTR)?

I can't find a release date. I checked the ordering system, but nothing is listed yet. As far as differences, looks like it's mainly the gear diff and plastic shock tops. Chassis seems to be a different color, but that could just be anodizing. The front hinge pins look greyish instead of gold. Shock shafts aren't ti-nitride, either. Nice looking electronics, though...

I do know that you DON'T get the mid-motor conversion parts but you do get tires with this one since it's an RTR.

Sorry I'm not more help on this one.

thats okay, wasnt sure if there were details of the difference that you might know. yes, a nice sensored 13.5 system, full "race" tires...I heard the shock caps have a bleeder screw?

I would imagine the RTR chassis is not hard annodized, no ti-nitrite on shock shaft/hinge pins, maybe dogbones instead of CVDs?

Either way, I think it is a great pull (and I am one of the guys who dislike RTR setups) and should help the buggy class wake up just that much more.

well I traded my sc104x4 for this little beauty.
The 10th scale class is all but dead at my local track so Im back to collecting and street running for now
It was a mid motor but I converted it to rear as all my gear fits better.

funny story: I was all excited to get it running so I left the front tires unglued until I had time to properly fit the foams, so out on my road I go with a fresh pack hooked to 4600kv and holy snot it.... was gone in a flash...few laps around the court and I headed it back home. I was going too fast to hit the driveway without a bad bottom out so I tapped the brakes ( which I had set too high) and both front tires blew off and rolled past me and the kids. I almost died laughing.... anywho carry-on.
