cool, BUT! All this states is that you have piston options and that you have better shock bushings and spring retainers. B and C that replace 4 and 6 appear to be the same but is very unclear unless you have the actually parts tree. It doesn't say to NOT use the springs. On the next page, does the manual still show to use the inner spring?

It was my understanding that the improvements to the shocks was related to the bushings and the spring retainers. The shocks that came with my 807c came with with the updated bushing etc and the springs in the shock internals.

BTW Rod we have one original style shock setup with the black rubber grommets and metal spring retainer and 2 with the white plastic bushing and retainer, which do you want on your buggy?

Also, I'm using A2 pistons for your unless you want a different setup. I will use the left over A2 on my rear shocks and A3 on the front. The A1 piston suck ass.

I now have both the 870 and YZ manuals which use these dampers. There was a revision in the YZ manual of these dampers and the inner coils were not in the YZ version. I'll scan them and post them up later today for you.

A question to those following the thread...Whats the easiest but safest way to remove the stubborn backbone glue from the chassis?

Acetone. It works for deglueing tyres but I've not tried it on a chassis.

I just did this to a rc10 chassis that I poorly glued years ago, the nose was delaminating. I took the chassis and a small bit of acetone, and placed them in a freezer bag, with the glue part submerged. Took a few days but the glue was all removed pretty effectively. Just don't let the acetone dry out on the chassis, it will reapply the glue in those places. If it happens, just put some acetone on a paper towel and wipe it clean. Using the plastic bag reduces the amount of acetone you need, while still submerging the part pretty effectively.

If I were to do it, I would place the chassis in a plastic container using something to raise it off the bottom, then pour in the acetone and seal the lid. The vapor from the acetone should do the work after a day or so.

I'm going to try the elevated chassis in the sealed container with acetone in the bottom trick. Too bad there wasn't a magic solution to clean aluminum parts

Now, that's using my nuts and not my brains...oh, wait a minute, those are Rod's nuts. Sorry for dipping your nuts in acetone Rod

Also, I will hook you yup with the white plastic for your shocks and no inner springs

I've had acetone on my nuts before. More interesting than painful, unless it hits raw skin -don't ask. -Jeff

folks do not try at home, Jeff is a professional ball dipper of acetone

on that note, I got my shafts polished along with all those pins.

I got the 3 sets of shocks assembled ; on the left, the original setup but without inner springs and no oil; the second, is the updated retainers and bushings less one bushing, and with inner springs; and the last has the parts in the best condition with updated retainers and bushings and no inner springs.
