I'm new to all this turbo and boost stuff but from what I got talking with Mike at Superior I want a good bit of boost and just a bit of turbo for the straight. Seems like the boost is all very smooth and the turbo can be a bit strong when it kicks in. But apparently the turbo ramp can also help. I'll let you know if I find any good setups at the track.

When I played with the boost on my Mamba, I found the larger the rpm gap, the smoother and easier the car was to drive...I had it set for 3500-20K, it was great. Before that, I had it @ 8900-9500, it was near impossible to drive...smooth, then nuclear explosion of boost and warp speed.

Hence...me running a no timing class only :)

Back to the RC10's....do you remember a decent gearing for 27T brushed? I put 20/87 (stealth) and it feels really great with a 60C lipo.

That's about right Joey, I think I ran (depending on track size) between a 19 and 21 tooth pinion but with an 81T spur.

Of all your great build threads Ruffy.... this is definately my favourite! Its just all about getting out there & enjoying the RC10 doing what it does best - racing! Very interesting to hear your views & comparisons with the modern buggies.

I know what you mean when you liken the way an RC10 handles the undulations like a motorcross bike... last year I was running my Worlds car (<--- in my avatar), our tracks are always bumpy/rutted even when they've been carefully rollered before being covered in Astroturf. Every time I ran it, I was amazed just how well the RC10 would handle the straights... with 6.5 power the nose would raise & the front wheels would just 'patter' the ground. For a clean quick lap it seemed you needed to always hold on a measured amount of throttle - go too cautious & the car would start to handle clumsily.

Unfortunately these ruts & bumps combined with a high bite surface (grass or Astro) meant that it felt like I needed longer rear arms (with narrower VLA?? :?: ) .... I think this would help male the rear end more stable & less prone to catching a bump & grip rolling.

P.S; I run the Black Diamond speedo in my tourer on a 13.5 - it really is a work of art & drives so smoothly.. I've never seen one fitted in a buggy yet. My Losi AC CR2 runs the old LRP Sphere... timing advance isn't required when you are running either 7 or 6.5 motors (stock spec racing hasn't hit UK off road yet  )

That is awesome to hear DerbyDan!
Like you I specifically enjoy racing the cars more than I do restoring or collecting.
The 22 will take some time to tune and to try out things, but my main aim with it is to provide me the feedback I need to make the RC10 CE even better.
I can't say enough about the RC10 CE being such an awesome race buggy even today. Tuned and driven correctly, most of the current cars with your average racer behind the wheel will be surprised at its racing prowess still today.
:D

Well I must say that after last weekends racing that I cannot agree with you more. I raced on grass at the same club where I had my best result running the RC10 last year... but this time with my Losi CR2 - & I can safely say that the more modern buggy felt no better.. maybe perhaps a little more constistant over the ramps but thats it! 8)
