alternate thrust bearing for XX diff found
alternate thrust bearing for XX diff found
don't know if it will help anyone but thought I would share. I have been looking for a thrust bearing for an XX diff (well, actually, the XX diff in my retrofit tranny, but whatever). I had some difficulty finding one online. I just happened to be wandering through the local hobby shop and came across a Corally thrust bearing P/N 79163 for the RDX/Assassin cars, and it is a functionally identical replacement. The assembled height is the same, the inner and outer diameters are the same, and it fits in the diff just fine. The only difference is that the cage for the balls is brass or some kind of metal that is colored a brass or copper like color, instead of the stock losi thrust which had a stamped sheetmetal type cage.

Re: alternate thrust bearing for XX diff found
This is handy to know, for me at least
... I've got a number of spare thrust races left over for the old design Corally diff. Thing is I'm pretty sure its easier to get hold of the genuine Losi item, especially in the US? I'm sponsored/assisted by the UK distributer for Corally & even I struggle to get parts - especially for the older cars (I still race the original PHi tourer)!

Pretty sure I just used Losa3099 last time i did a retrofit XX. Yes the bearings are not surrounded in a race, but they are exactly the same size washers.
3mm x 8mm is the dimensions for washers for each. It is used in the XXX models.

I'll try the XXX thrust next time, thanks for the tip.
The XX retrofit tranny instructions call for LOSA3071 which is the part I was having a hard time finding.

Re: alternate thrust bearing for XX diff found
Ok, in the process of working on the compatibility chart for vintage Losi parts I came across a better solution.
The XXT CR Graph uses a3098, all other parts in the diff are the same with older XX and the Retrofit XX models. This part is readily available from Horizon. No need to hunt for a3071. The picture on Horizon sure makes it look like the thrust bearing assembly for the old slipper.
You can see the XXT CR GRaph explode for reference, http://vintagelosi.com/Manuals_files/xxtgraph.pdf.
Ok, back to the compatibility chart grind. You can see I am not moving real quick since I am only in the 3000's still.
