Re: CRP/Turbo Scorpion Racer
Nice work so far! I'm following this one for sure, as I also have a box of Scorpion parts SLOWLY accumulating. No where near an entire car yet.

Re: CRP/Turbo Scorpion Racer
I have done some modification on the wing, I have change the yellow shrink wrap to white!Coelacanth wrote:I'd agree with kaz_z. I'm loving the work so far, but I'm not diggin' the wing. It lends a certain "ricer" quality to an otherwise beautiful car. A simple, 1-layer wing would look better, I think. Awesome work nonetheless!kaz_z wrote:nice work, keep it up!how's the finishing of the white repro tub? btw I think the CRP wing does look a little oversize for the TS though.
What do you thing guys, still to big?
PS. “kaz-z” The tub is a bit rugged, but it was easy to sand to nice finish!

Re: CRP/Turbo Scorpion Racer
Meh...I can't speak for others, but I have a 2-level wing and even THAT seems overkill. A 3-level wing seems overdone to me, regardless of the color. It wasn't the yellow shrink-wrap I didn't like, it was the ricey-ness. But that's just me. It's your Scorpion! I can only say I wish I had a Scorpion and had the same dilemma as you.

Re: CRP/Turbo Scorpion Racer
IMO wing looks a bit much because the roof of the car is missing. Get a roof, the wing should be better. That being said, CRP Part #6001 is pretty late in the ball game..probably post dates the car a bit and more at home on an RC10 like those Bud's wings etc. I also like the fact your red dampers are threaded. Nice touch.Hcp22 wrote:If you thought that I ran out of CRP pats you where mistaking! This 6” wide CRP wing is an adjustable ”Aero-Thch Tri-Level Wing” (#6001)....

This settles this wing problem, it’s to new! Then I will go with “Coelacanth’s” suggestion, if Associated’s wing 6186 isn’t too young to?Y'ernat Al wrote:IMO wing looks a bit much because the roof of the car is missing. Re: CRP/Turbo Scorpion Racer
EXTRA, EXTEA, read all about it!
I found something I didn’t know existed until a week ago! I found front arms to my Scorpion made by Race Prep in black plastic NIP. And this part is a must on a racer…
When I opened the sealed bag I discover some letters on the arms. And it wasn’t RP (RacePrep), it was MRP… And it makes me thinks if there is any relationship between this two? Or is just that MRP made this for Race Prep... maybe any of you guys know?
These front arms have a very tight fit, so it took me quite some time to get them move freely. But now after over 25 year they are where they spouse to be on a Scorpion, and it’s on my Scorpion! A benefit is that you can attach the shocks two different poisons.

It's bad ass, Lars!
Too bad the wing turned out too big. What about a goldish Dirt Burners wing?

Re: CRP/Turbo Scorpion Racer
Thanks guys!
A Dirt Burners wing has crossed my mind; I have one lying around somewhere. But I think it’s too heavy to carry around on the top of a racer, and it’s more suitable for a shelf queen. I will go with a painted Associated wing #6186, but thanks for the advice Fredrik!

Re: CRP/Turbo Scorpion Racer
There has been a lot of hop-ups from CRP and e few others manufactures. But didn’t Kyosho have any hop-ups of there one you might ask yourself? The answer to that question is: yes they have 4 of hop-ups besides the LeMans-motors. It was bearings, lose tire-knobs that you super glued on the tires. And there was SC-57 side impact guard, finally the part I gone use, the SC-58 motor heat sink.
To power this beast I have chosen the same motor that the World Champion Gil Losi Jr had in his Yokomo in -85! At least that is what Trinity is calming in their advertising for this motor…
The motor is a LeMans 240S, modified, tuned and sold by Trinity. I believe it’s a 3x17 or 3x16; the original winding for the 240S was 1x19. To control this “monster” motor I should have chosen Novak’s NEC-1… But sins I will use S2 Li-Po I hesitate, I don’t want to ruin a perfect functioning NEC-1. Maybe I’m wrong, you tell me… In the mean time I will install another Novak ESC, the 410-HPc that can cope with 10 cells and that littleVETTE sold to me. The receiver is 27MHz AM from Novak and the transmitter is an old Futaba’s Gold stick radio.
Now I have almost reached the end of my project to build a 26 year old racer! The only things remaining to do is to wait for few parts to arrive to Sweden, Associated #6186 wing, Trinity decals from Eau Rouge and CRP decals from a TC member. I expect everything to arrive next week, so I can paint the wing and attach the decals. Then I can take the final pictures before running it on the track.

I'd love to see that--make sure you take some action vids!Hcp22 wrote:I expect everything to arrive next week, so I can paint the wing and attach the decals. Then I can take the final pictures before running it on the track.

Re: CRP/Turbo Scorpion Racer
I think I know why your arms say MRP on them... Check this thread out... THe arms pictured on this MRP Pro 110 look amazingly similar to the ones Race Prep packaged for the scorpion...

Re: CRP/Turbo Scorpion Racer
That motor heatsink looks really cool (pun not intended). I wonder why so few manufacturers have made such heatsinks...

Re: CRP/Turbo Scorpion Racer
You are right, they are similar! I’m pretty sure that MRP made this for Race Prep back in the days!losiXXXman wrote:I think I know why your arms say MRP on them... Check this thread out...
