My runner.

Post by Volumiza »

Hi, as i have nothing better to do today i thought i'd post a couple of pictures of my (oh so nearly ready) runner. i have a motor, ESC and servo all ready to go.

it's a bit of a mongrel, but it's the offspring of a donor car or two and some bits and bobs i've aquired, so i just hung it all together.

i won some new turnbuckles and (although at the price it didnt feel like winning) a body last night off ebay, so as soon as that lot comes through, dust will be kicked up! I cant wait!

gotta dye another battery cup and align them horizontally so it doesn't interfere with the ESC tray, get some shock oil, set the suspension up and i'm off!!

normally i'm a generous chap, but not where them wheels are concerned :P . They were a nice find and they're in lovely condition ... for now  .

I feel aggreived actualy, just been fiddling and it turns out my motor's not too hot. being new to this rc thing, any suggestions for good motors and ESCs? should i go for vintage or do you guys stick new motors and ESCs in your runners?

the runner now has a body! i was moaning to my friend about my lack of bodies last night and it turns out he has one spare. it's some kind of bolink body that although isn't the correct shell, does fit fairly well.

it's solid enough but it'd been painted underneath AND the top surface. so today has been spent trying to strip off the paint, which has taken AGES and dissapointingly the finish of the lexan isn' too great after both surfaces have been cleaned, i'm not sure if it was my work that dulled the surface (i didn't use an abrasive cloth though) or if that was the reason it had been sprayed like that in the first place, i guess i'll never know.

i'm gonna spray it tomorrow, and I'm gonna have to spray the outer surface, other than suseptability to scratches will it make too much difference?

That body is a Bolink Funco Buggy Body, made specifically for the RC10.

FUNCO was and still is a 1:1 Off road chassis builder. I believe these days the bulk of their work is military. Bolink made a series of 5 or so bodies all with the FUNCO name.

just finished painting it  . i found it pretty hard going because its all reverse and the darkest colours go on last so any masking issues get found out BIG TIME.

still after a bit of tidying up it looks ok for my first attempt.

I like it. Maybe smack some stickers on it to break up the colors a bit. But she looks great.

thanks, i've got some decals for it, but i'm saving them till i decide which body to use, this was more of a practice than anything cos i've never painted one before.

thing is, it's hard to keep focus on one project, i keep flitting between 3 and progress is slooooow :)

it's getting a bit closer. i paid stooooopid money for this body cos i was desperate (now there's a flood of them on ebay). stripped it down, resprayed it and retrimmed it (it needed some real trimming here and there to make it fit as (i think) it's a b2 body.

just a few more little things i need to get done (new reciever and maybe a new ESC). hopefully i'll get them done over the weekend as my new baby daughter is arriving on monday.

very nice! I can confirm you have a B2 body there. Does it fit well the old tub?
