Great Vigor Beagle-Optima Clone ebay find
Well I'm psyched. I've been wanting a Kyosho Optima since I've gotten back into RC over the last few years. I had a bunch of cars and what not in storage but a long time ago I had sold my Kyosho Turbo Optima that I used to race so I could buy my JRX2. 2wd buggy was king and 4wd buggy was non-existant back in the day in my area. Well I just won a Kyosho Optima clone, the AYK Beagle, on fleabay
I'm psyched on 2 sides. I feel like if I throw some gold shocks and sway bars on it I have my Turbo Optima again (after I deal with the missing parts). And in reality it's a very rare care in it's own right. It's the AYK Beagle. AYK copied, I mean exact duplicate, the Kyosho Optima and within 1 or 2 years was forced to stop production.
If interested. I'll post pictures of the rebuild.
On a side note. Does anyone have a chain for sale and 2 front dogbones?

Looking forward to some pictures, never heard of that car. If the parts are identical to the Optima, I have a chain and dogbones for you...fronts & rears should be the same length, at least in the case of the Optima.sgirouard wrote:On a side note. Re: Do I qualify for this section LOL
The car is a CLONE of the optima. I don't have it here yet but here are some pictures I've "captured" off the bay. Honestly, I can't believe I won it because the person had it listed under kyosho optima
When I say it's a clone....now you know why...LOL. These are the pictures from the ad.

Here's an old ad for the beagle

There was a good article about it but I can't find it now.

And one cool thing about this "find" is that the body appears to be decent and box art.

I was watching that auction! I almost bid on it. Congrats - it looks like its in decent shape. I wouldn't try to turn it into an Optima or Turbo, it is perfect the way it is.

The Beagle was not from AYK also I think the beagle was one of 2 clones of the optima not sure what the other one was called or who made it

Re: Do I qualify for this section LOL
I would agree, the Beagle is no AYK. But it sure does mimic the Optima...ugly body IMHO, though.
Measure your dog-bones crosspin-to-crosspin; if they're 62.5mm approx., they'll be the same as the Optima's.

Re: Do I qualify for this section LOL
Referencing your title for this thread, there is an unwritten rule, you only qualify for this section if Scr8p approves, as he is the mother of all unadmitted Kyosho enthusiasts on the planet. PM him and ask him if you are worthy to post in HIS sectionm, then proceed my friend.

I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

Re: Do I qualify for this section LOL
Yes, I've done some more research. The Beagle was made by Great Vigor. My history was right in regards to Great Vigor getting shut down on producing these, just had the wrong company.
Well I'll get it here and work on it.
PS Coelacanth, you have a PM.

Re: Do I qualify for this section LOL
I guess this should be moved to the "other" category. Now that I know exactly what I'm looking at. I'm still going to do a rebuild on it. I'm probably going to try and run it in a Vintage race that takes place here in Connecticut in September. I think as much for the 'What the heck is a beagle' factor as anything else LOL.

Re: Do I qualify for this section LOL
I think it would be fine in this forum with the topic changed to Beagle, Optima clone, or something to that effect. That car and that one the other guy posted are almost identical knock-offs. I had no idea there were so many knock-offs of the original Optima!

It may not be a kyosho but it is apart of kyosho's history and I feel it is in the correct forum.sgirouard wrote:I guess this should be moved to the "other" category.
