Re: Tomy>>>Xpress
Fun read. Unlike the Associated kits, mine doesn't have a kit # on the box, so the descriptions and years had my attention. I remember getting it with my tax refund in the mid '90's. The box has 1996 roar sedan championship printed on it and then a sticker saying roar and norrca champion on it. Aluminum rear motor mount/bulkhead but plastic in front.

Re: Tomy>>>Xpress
I was always interested in Xpress just because it was a crazy flash in the pan. They won the races you mentioned in 1996, had a decent sized team, (Swauger, Mike McMahon, Craig Xavier, Curtis Schlat, among others) and were gone by 2000 in the USA-or at least the original distributor. I think Ultimate Hobbies were bringing the cars in at first, and they had the original team in the US. I remember them at the 1998 ROAR carpet nats, the car was good. From what it sounded like, the 1998 Ifmar worlds didn't go well, so I don't know if that was the problem or what. The other weird thing was there were like 3 teams for that worlds, one for each distributor, M1, Xpress USA/Ultimate, and I think the Asian team.
Later, Speedworld Hobbies in California brought the car in. It was sort of past it's sell by date at that point, but a friend of mine was driving the car. I used to call him "The #1 Xpress Driver in the World", since he was probably the only Xpress driver in the world.
