B3 chassis (long and short) questions

Post by flipwils11 »

I posted a while back about some headaches with a stripped screw where the triangular front top plate connects to the B3 chassis that I had to drill out and ruined the chassis. I got a replacement on ebay labeled as a NIP B3 chassis.

I got it and converted everything over not noticing anything different, but now I realize it's longer than the one that came with the car. The battery hold down bar won't reach and of course the body mount holes are wrong.

Is there a different part # for the hold down, and what will the change be with the car riding on a longer wheel base with this chassis? What's the background of Associated offering the short and long version?

Sounds like you got a T3 chassis instead.

There are two versions of the B3 chassis, I have both. The normal length and one that is approximately 5mm shorter. A standard chassis is roughly 8 3/4" long from nose to rear and a T3 chassis is roughly 9 3/4" long from nose to rear.

I went and did a rough measurement and it's a lot more than 5 mm. I think I have a T3 chassis.
