LOSB0819 Servo - which horn?
LOSB0819 Servo - which horn?
I just picked up a new Losi 0819 servo on the cheap - it didn't come with a horn. What does Losi use? I have horns for Futaba, Hitec, Airtronics and JR servos (they all come with AE kits). I am hesitant to test fit to avoid damaging it.
-I know it's not the fastest or strongest servo but $10.00 was a great deal

Same size as JR/Airtronics...23.

I'm going with you! Someone on rctech.net said "24, same as Hitec" - thanks for the reply.
The new 22 looks awesome.

Re: LOSB0819 Servo - which horn?
Okay, so I went into my basement to slip the JR/Air horn on the servo and it didn't fit. I have bunch of the supplied horns from Associated kits and I tried several (of the same) but still nothing. I tried to count 23 but that was tough.
I tried a Futaba horn and it seemed to fit but I didn't slip it completely on just in case. It did feel better when I slightly turned the horn on
the shaft to set the mesh. I read that Futaba was a 25 tooth shaft.
I typically only use parts listed in kit manuals (ie, chart shows which horn to use with which brand servo). I am piecing together an old 10T and that info is not provided. I'm definitely the kind of builder that needs to read something to make sure it's right - I triple check what's already been double checked.
Needless to say I am a little confused. I'm not saying you are wrong - I'm just scratching my head.
Thanks again for the reply and any add'l info is greatly appreciated.

Re: LOSB0819 Servo - which horn?
It actually is 23...but there is a small catch. A 23T Airtronics spline has a slightly smaller pitch than a JR 23 tooth spline. Why I don't know. If anyone has taken a specific JR 23th splined horn and installed in on an Airtronics you will see that it is slightly loose. Not dramatically but slightly. It's probably why the horn feels really tight going on the Losi servo which is designed after the JR spline (for obvious reasons, we distribute that brand).
For our 8ight line of vehicles we offer an specific insert for 23 JR/Losi and 23 Airtronics. Here's a link http://www.losi.com/Search/Default.aspx?SearchTerm=servo%20insert
