Gearing Advice for Stealth with B4 slipper and 10.5 motor

Post by peetbee »

I've tried searching and couldn't seem to track down the answer.
So could anyone recommend what pinion to run on my 10.5?
I'm running the stealth box and the B4 slipper with 81t spur, also got 2.2" rims, any ideas?!
Thanks :D

Well it would be about a 24 or 25 tooth.

The manual says to run a 19t pinion. I ran a 23t with a 10 turn Orion motor and it screamed untill the endbell melted.

Thanks for the replies, I just realised that I didn't make it clear either!
It's for a gold pan with the 2.25:1 stealth box that I've put the b4 slipper on.
Any ideas?

10.5's can carry a lot of gear and even like being geared tall. Start with 24/81, it should pull that easy.

I geared the B4 with a 10.5 @ 25/78.
We are all heading towards old age. Get there slower by bike.

Not sure if this helps, but I ran a stock RC10 with a stock stealth tranny and slipper today with an LRP X-12 8.5T brushless motor and geared it at 85/23 for a final of 8.315 ratio and it was amazing.

Thanks Ruffy, will have a play!

If only I'd kept it simple and asked:

"What pinion would people recomend on a 10.5 for a 2.25:1 stealth using an 81t spur?"

Think I've got it sorted now.
I know what works on my B4 so have worked it backwards using:
"spur divided by pinion multiplied by gearbox ratio = FDR"

So I will be trying a 21t pinion with my 81t spur. :D
