Re: RC10B4 Javelin Hybrid Frame
Nice job!, your project is at least an 11 on a 1-10 scale.
Way cooler than the stock version.
This is what Associated should be making in the first place, performance, durability, AND semi-scale realism.
(They finally started to get it right with the SC8)
Why do they STILL make buggies (and especially 4X4 buggies) look like something Buck Rogers or Flash Gordon would be embarrassed to drive? Has anyone EVER seen a 4 wheel drive sand rail or dune buggy?...Giant wing anyone?
If they built something like this, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
Maybe why this is why the Sand Scorcher, Rough Rider, etc. are so appealing after all these years...they actually look a little like REAL CARS.

Re: RC10B4 Javelin Hybrid Frame
i totally agree, i mean look at the body styling nowadays, i know everyone is in a pursuit to go fast, and have a sleek body (look at the sword body for the ultima rb5 lol) but "scale" looks are definetly put last now on the design list, and aerodynamics are definetly put on top of list. which it should be other way around. Look at the original ultima with the roll cage and the driver body, that is a cool looking car.Diggley wrote:Nice job!, your project is at least an 11 on a 1-10 scale.

by quenching them, process of heating them red hot, and quenching in water, then heating them again to a non red hot state but very hot, and quenching them in water again.. makes the metal very hot.
there are TONS of processes out there for this, like heating in over for 12 hours etc etc.. but this works well for me.

Re: RC10B4 Javelin Hybrid Frame
The front end and the lights are a great addition. Looks killer.
I agree with the scale realism debate. Tamiya is doing a pretty good job with their 4x4 truck line and even re-releasing a few buggies. Unless you are into racing, where did the cool "scale realism" go from companies like Kyosho and Tamiya back in the day? I think that is one of the reasons that stadium trucks and rock crawling are so popular. I think scale is making a comeback but in these different forms. It would be cool to see a few more scale buggies hit the market IMO.

How's this holding up? I'd love to have one of these on my B4... maybe I'd actually run it.

Re: RC10B4 Javelin Hybrid Frame
just got powdercoated chassis's back, this was one of them, other 2 were a circuit 20 kyosho and a custom rc10 i plan to sell on ebay
nothing really new on it except the new cage... need to figure out some new gearing since it wheelies on full throttle and it has a mamba brushless with a 3s lipo.. gonna run the hell outta this one this year.

Thats cool when people ask about old projects and they get bumped up again.
