What kind of motor winds the Novak NESC can handle

I had been looking at the Novak timeline and at instructions manual for NESC-1, NESC-1X and NESC-4. And no were can I find what kind of motor winds the ESC can handle! Is there anyone ho knows this at the forum or could give me a hint?

Novak never published motor wind data for their old ESCs. One example that may help (from an old RCCA article): Gil Losi Jr. used a NESC-1 in his championship 1985 Yokomo Dogfighter with a Trinity 16 or 18 turn double. Any lower winds would likely be too much.

I still have the oners book for my old novak t-4. It states tht the esc has no motor limmit. Not to sure how low to go but I've run down to a 11turn no problem.

The problem with older 'no limit' escs is that the claim only applies to motors available at the time. Modern motors draw more amperage than the vintage ones. I have 27turn 'stock' motors (P2K, CO27) that draw more than all my LeMans motors and I'm pretty sure those dip into the teens for winds.
I'd go more mild, or better yet, run vintage mod motors.

yeah, as far as the old non tempfet units (prior to T1, T4, T1x), I would probably only go down to about 16 turns.

the tempfet esc's will(should) thermally shut down, so you would find out how low you can go pretty safely I would assume. that is, if the wind is too hot, the esc should shut down prior to damage.

I don't believe that is the case with the older versions, and you could possibly smoke a FET (or several).

I gona use motors that was common around 85-88, preferably Kyosho motors! But I don’t want to blow a vintage ESC because a 2x16 was to hot...
