help me find some tires

Post by klavy69 »

Ok, lookin for some opinions out here in RC10 land. Awhile back I had picked up some 20's for my '95 explorer pretty cheap off of ebay so I figured I would hack up the explorer to fit these tires to it:

The smallest size they come in for a 20 inch rim is 32.5" which would be pretty huge on it but like I said...I was gonna make it work  . Well anyway, I paid for the rims on a sunday and the tranny went outta my explorer on tuesday or wednesday  . He had allready sent them so they were mine. No big deal since I got them for a couple hundred bucks but I now have an '02 explorer and don't wanna 'make them fit'. The biggest tire I can fit on there without modding anything up is approx. 30 inches high...might be able to squeeze a 31" but doubt it. So now my dilema is that I need a 30 inch tire for a 20 inch rim that has something of a tread like the bfg. I reallize backset, rim width and such details are needed for an exact fit but I'll figure that part out later. So my question is Anyone know of any tire out there or tire company that has something besides the old street tire tread for this kind of application?

Thanx for the long read if you made it this far

did I miss the link?

well anyway, I thank you for your post anyway and do agree that the bfg is one of the best tires out there for the money. Wears like iron and they are hard to get stuck with the daily driving scenario. I put them on my wifes explorer and never have any problems. If I can't find a tire for these rims to go onto my explorer I'll pry pick up some spacer/adaptors to put them on my ranger that has lots of room for tire.

anyone else?

Thanx
