Modifications
front gearbox screws replaced with 4 bolts
front belt adjuster removed and spacers inserted behind gearbox brackets
screws for rear wishbone brackets replaced with single bolt
undertray and belt cover sealed with draught-excluder tape
gearbox side plates have been satin chrome plated
diff washers sanded with 600 wet and dry
new disc springs used in )()()( arrangement (tip from Bormac)
thrust bearing sealed with foam gasket
aerial mounted mid-chassis

Where will you be running this one? (I assume you didn't convert to LiFe and modern electronics for a shelfer)

You'll have a very hard time breaking a Procat. Sure you'll crack a few wings, bodies and wheels but for the most part these cars are very hard to break if you can at the very least drive them. Dont over power the car, keep it at a level at which you can maintain control and work up from their. This will save you a lot of greif.
If I might suggest you keep an eye on the tension and tracking of the front belt. If it comes too loose it will slip and be trouble from their on in.

you may find a couple places which run vintage on oople's site

Most places that do vintage races though probably run the class with a milder moter spec.

I first begun back in off road a few years back with a GTB and 5.5t. The GTB esc's are like an off and on switch with very little 'real' tunability to get the 5.5t to behave itself.
Ive since sold all my low turns and gone with 10.5t motors. My 5000 lipo's deliver good consistant voltage so they do well enough.

Thanks. I don't think I'll get problems with the front belt. I've modified the front gearbox housing so it's clamped with 4 bolts instead of 8 screws. The tension setting shouldn't change because I've used spacers to push the gearbox forward instead of the old plastic tension bar. The 5.5 should also be OK because the Li-Fe cells only supply 6.6v - it's easier to handle and won't shred the drive train. I've built this car the best I could and I hope I can find somewhere (safe) to race it!

I fitted fitted Bosscat hub carriers and changed the one way driveshafts to normal ones. It makes the front end 21g lighter. I drove it around a bit and it goes great. Can't wait to race it on Sunday - first time in 17 years!

I've been doing some weighing and this Cat is LEAN...
Ni-MH to Li-Fe battery - 140g reduction
Schumacher Aerodiscs to JC spokes - 13g reduction
Titanium screws, turnbuckles and studs - 26g reduction
Carbon fibre chassis - who knows?
The total racing weight of the car is (drum roll) 1550g
Isn't that 38g below the BRCA minimum?

All I need now are some nip driveshafts. Can anyone help?

Arghhhhhhh! Cracked the front bumper today! Nevermind, it's been properly "christened" and is a true runner. Made the B final (OK there were only two 4WD finals) and came exactly in the middle. Hope to get some videos up after next meeting. So now looking for driveshafts (new) and a front bumper (any condition). btw I changed to Bosscat front hub carriers so have a couple spare T052 hub carriers.

dirt shields from I&Q Tuning (less rebuilding shocks!)

front oil 40w, piston 3, silver springs
rear oil 30w, piston 4, yellow springs

new HPI wing
sealed belt cover and undertray better
applied sponge tape to cushion undertray and shell
moved tray up by 2mm to hold battery more securely
strapped down capacitor properly
