vintage electronic connection question

Hi,

I am trying to put period electronics on my car and am trying to use the correct connectors for the car's year.

I have some 4 pin Delta Deans connectors but I only have one male and one female (I need two pairs for one car). I know CRP and Litespeed both released this product back in the day but I haven't been able to find any on ebay or elsewhere.

I was wondering if anyone knows the name or code for this type of connector so I could get some from an electronics shop? Or if anyone has any gagging for a good home?

Failing that can someone tell me when the T-shaped Deans connectors were available to RC users?

Are you sure you're ok for me to remove the corally tubes from the batteries I'm trading you?

Those are about as vintage as the deans connectors (going from my poor memory at least)
They are still in production and for sale, so you 'd have no problem finding the male plugs for them either.

I know where to get them on ebay if I ever need them but I'd prefer Deans. These particular 4 pins deans pre-date the T joint deans and are for my MIP 4wd Sand Scorcher cars and my shelf queen Yokomo Dog Fighter.

BTW glad the parts arrived ok, I look forward to receiving my parts in a week or so...

the new Dean's plugs are only about 4 years old.
Let me call Deans and see what they have on the shelves.

If you want to put period connectors on those cars there are only two options, Tamiya connectors or soldering direct. Low loss connectors never came into general use until around 89-90, the first ones being Anderson Powerpoles and Corallys tubes, both still available, then Deans around 91.

If you still want Deans 4 pin connectors then a quick google search throws up plenty of places that stock them.

Nah, that's not entirely true.

When we started in the early 80s, we went from Tamiya connectors to 4-pin Deans to the orange Race Prep connectors, LONG before 1990. Guys used PowerPoles, too (which you can still buy) as early as 1985, as well as a few others. There were LOTS of connectors to choose from, but most used Deans 4-pin or Race Prep orange plugs.

the deans 4-pins are still available, but they re-designed them recently. the plastic housing is more rounded with a lip on one end. They look more like the newer "micro" 2 pin style. The older 4-pin connector was very boxy with all edges square.

Yeah, deans power plugs. I remember they use to even come included with some novak speed controls in the early 90's.

These were the plugs of choice back in the day. I went with a set on my vintage sand scorcher but I couldn't get the black color ones I wated.
