alright, got the prototype towers from atlas. they turned out great. now that i have parts i can acutally hold in my hands and bolt to the chassis, i can see some changes need to be made. the rear tower is pretty much good to go. but the holes for the body mount need to be changed. the top one needs to go bye bye, and one needs to be added at the bottom. another thing is where the b4 wing mounts are gonna end up mounting to the tower. i didn't have them when brian drew it up (and still don't yet  ), but i have a feeling they're probably gonna end up in the middle of the side cutouts. but we'll see....

on the front, there's more of an issue. i think it's something i did drawing it up, and brian thinks it's something he did, but either way we'll get it figured out.

my plan was to have the top holes fit the .89 shocks, and the lowers fit .71's. well, the way it is now, the tower is a bit too tall. so we'll get it shortened up. another thing that needs a little tweaking is the angle of the shock mounting holes. they just need to be pivoted a tiny bit. after those changes, the front will be ready to go as well.

the viper is pretty much the only associated body that will fit the lines of the tub. so, that's the one i'll have to use.

the plan was to use carbon fiber. but i was talking to reggie one day and we were discussing the towers. he brought up the idea of cutting them out of matte black fiberglass. i kinda like the idea because it would fit with what i'm trying to accomplish with this car. but we'll see what happens.

Hey scr8p, care to divulge the original owner of the front arms you were thinking of using? I'm always looking for alternative fixes ... My car is still waiting for some whit-ish team arms for th front, and I;m thinking of putting something else onin the mean time.

nope, they're still a secret.

but since you said that your looking for alternatives to the team car arms, i'm guessing that you have the standard buggy front end. they wouldn't work for you anyway.

I've been told and asked for measurements on traxxas bullet fronts, and they seem like a usable item for the stock front end.. for now, until I can get REAL AE parts...

I have a set of traxxas arms on the front of my original rc10. Need to trim a little, and add a couple of shims to take up some slack, but they go right on pretty much. I know they are close to a team car width, but not having any, I couldn't tell you.

I will probably try to build a car with worlds suspension at some point too scr8p, so I'd like to stay in the loop on those "alternative" arms! By the way, are they white? and are they still in production? (two most important questions)

white - no
still in production - no

unless you have rpm worlds arms, the dynotech arms are the way to go.

What length are those Traxxas arms ?
I have a Trx-3 and a RC10T hybrid with SRT arms
and the Trx-3 arms are shorted than the SRT/rustler/bandit arms

I'll have to measure them. I think they are within .1" of the associated team car arms, but can't recall for sure.

back before the longer arms were available, they were a cheaper option from traxxas, compared to andys or rpm arms.

alright, time to update. :)

well, i changed my mind as to what front end i'm gonna use on this build. the front arms that i had thought would work on this car are not gonna fly. so, i decided to just use a standard buggy front end (nose plate, wide track arms, etc). the front tower that i designed to use on this car with a truck nose plate will now be used on another car (i'll update that thread shortly  ).

i also decided that CF towers was not the way to go on this build. it's too early of a car to go with a "factory team" theme. so i asked atlas if he could cut the custom rear tower out of 1/8" matte black fiberglass, and one of his .89 front tower out of 3/32 matte black fiberglass. he said he could, and here they are. i'm super happy with how they look, and i think i made the right decision on the material choice.
