McAllister lowering kit take dye?

Post by THEYTOOKMYTHUMB »

Is the McAllister lowering kit nylon or plastic? I’d like to dye it black, but it looks to be more like plastic. Will it take dye? I fear not…

It's either nylon or delrin. Both take dye.

Yes, the kit pieces will take black dye very well.

I used RIT liquid dye on two different kits and they only took a few minutes to turn a deep black.

I saw this build and it’s awesome. I guess I wasn’t paying enough attention. Thanks all. :D

LTO_DAVE, can you give us more info on those hinge pin retaing clips on the second picture? do they require grooves in the shafts?

They are from Pure-Tech and mount in the grooves just like regular c-clips. They are slightly thicker, but work fine on my cars.

The have a flat side and a beveled side. And I bought a set of mini snap-ring pliers from Harbor Freight that work great...these little buggers are tough to spread apart.
