HPI Baja Build on Horsepower TV
Anyone catch the HPI Baja build on Horsepower TV this morning?
(For about the cost of 4 new Sand Scorchers).....I want one!
I love the obvious Ultima inspired chassis design.
If I'm not mistaken it was designed by the same guy.

I seen that episode this morning as well. It has perked my interest again for my RC stuff. I just placed a bid on ebay for an upgrade motor for my Nitro Tmaxx. I also saw the extream 4x4 show. They had a few different Rock crawlers an out of the box HPI unit and an Axial 10 then they put together a custom build. Pretty cool stuff.

I can't say enough about how bad ass these machines are. I bought one a couple of years ago and it's a blast. I don't run it too much as I have to take it somewhere wide open.

Re: HPI Baja Build on Horsepower TV
As tempting as those things are, I can't possibly make the jump to the $1000+ stage....my wife would kill me...not after 2 Slashes & a Sand Scorcher purchased over the past couple months.
Of course, I couldn't leave it alone. If I did get one, I'd have to do this to be true to myself...
:
I'll take my Sand Scorcher supersized please..with a side of YEE HAH!

I've seen some video with them tricked out with paddles, they make great looking sand rails!

I love that body, but it is about $150, plus another $100 worth of 5-T body mounts/bumpers to mount it to my 5-B.Diggley wrote:As tempting as those things are, I can't possibly make the jump to the $1000+ stage....my wife would kill me...not after 2 Slashes & a Sand Scorcher purchased over the past couple months.![]()

Re: HPI Baja Build on Horsepower TV
i hate these threads, because of the videos i end up watching. i've been wanting to get one for while, ever since i saw one up close at the ocrc track. everything about the buggy is huge. i went to riverside, down the road, and watched them race in their own series. i couldn't stop shaking after i left. yeah, it's that bad...

I wanted one of these until the truck version came out. Seeing how its a truck makes it even bigger.
If I had that kind of extra money though there would be other things I would have to spend it on.

Re: HPI Baja Build on Horsepower TV
Going back to the Horsepower TV show... that Joe Elmore is a tool. Spend 2 grand on all this stuff including stroker kits and aftermarket pipes.... Then after your first run, forget to get off the throttle after you "finish" the drag. Nothing beats the feeling of seeing that kind of investment hit the curb, fly in the air 50 ft and land upside down with the throttle still pinned. Hey dummy, let off the gas already.
I guess they were lucky he didn't take out the timing tree at the end of the track.

Then he wanted to sell it at the end of the show!...I think he was afraid of it.

Re: HPI Baja Build on Horsepower TV
A pet peeve of mine is calling R/C Remote Control. Last I checked it was Radio Control. Remote Control is when the controller is attached to the vehicle by a wire. I think the misconception comes from how you're controlling the model remotely.
Re: HPI Baja Build on Horsepower TV
I think he said the battery went dead causing the wreck. I don't think he is a tool but he can't drive RC's for chit!Brandon G wrote:Going back to the Horsepower TV show... that Joe Elmore is a tool.
