Schumacher truck?

Not being too terribly familiar with this brand so I could use some help identifying this rig. I grabbed it off craigslist yesterday along with an enourmous pile of swag. Most of what I got is in the pictures. There was also a small pile of useful tools, supplies and a beat up body. What might not be self evident is that two of the battery pacs are brand new. Also the Associated stock motor is of the Edinger variety an in very nice condition. Are these hard to come by or are they dime-a dozen? I don't have any Edinger cars so I'd probably part with it if any one is interested. I went after this originally because I wanted the truck for parts. I think I got a fair deal at $50.

I think the transmitter is worth this on its own, and your Schumacher truck looks like it's in nice condition. I would think it's a Shotgun (first trucks, based on a Cougar chassis with old style boxy body), but it could also be a Club 10 Storm with hop ups (more modern and slicker body) with hopups. I also like the 2 green monsters, that were pretty good stock motors at their time...

Thanks Jooles, I just started doing some research. I now believe you are correct that this is a Shotgun. The body I got is definitely the original type as shown on the box.

Its a Shotgun,even has the original tires still on.

As has been mentioned previously, it's definitely a Schumacher Shotgun. Giveaways are shock towers and shocks... later model Storm used more modern shocks and towers, and Club10 Storm used different shocks again. Note that the tyres were used on many of the Schumacher trucks, although some later ones had smaller mini-pin type tyres.

For $50, you've done quite well... that should make a very nice runner indeed!

I wonder what the deal was with having different coloured wheels on each side? Also, despite using stick packs exclusively, it seems to be setup for having the batteries offset to the left. Strange...

Just making a fashion statement
Dunno why they'd mount the battery off to the side, they handle badly enough already.
They are pretty fun to throw around a track though, with the front wheels flopping around on that single ball bearing, and the front tyres rubbing on the body whenever you turn. Ahh must put mine back together for the next vintage meet..

There is/was a twin ball bearing front hub upgrade...... have a couple of them myself, must install them.....
