Which YZ10 ???
Which YZ10 ???
Now i know its a yz10 but which one ?
i presume its standard but seems to have had front and rear shock mounts changed and someone has changed the front top arms for a straight knuckle joint, im led to believe it has a CML suspension conversion for indoors . I wished i was still racing with John or Jason Varley as i know they would know. I purchased this by mistake presuming it was a 870c (im sure most of us have made a booboo here and there).
Anyway here are some pics
I know nothing of this model so if someone could shed a bit of light on the subject that would be ace. I have had a look on the forum but not found one like this yet . The only yoke i know is the 870c as i used to race these when i was alot younger with the West Midlands Buggy Club (uk) and still have my originally purchased 870c from central models limited (CML)fully restored from waaay back then. Always liked the simplicity of the 870c but this yz10 looks to be a well thought out model imo.
Thanks for reading

Re: Which YZ10 ???
It looks like it has been heavily modified: the drivetrain is from the 94 model, suspension also but the chassis is custom, lightening holes in the suspension arms also custom, topdeck too, rear shocktower... also but not sure
Never seen one like this, could be home-made but very very weel done.
One to hang on to.

Re: Which YZ10 ???
The shocks look like Schumacher short shocks. The rear turnbuckles and the steering turnbuckles are Schumacher. The grey rod ends are also Schumacher. Why would anyone...........maybe its a customized carpet racer. Why else would you decrease suspension travel on an off road car? Unless you were racing indoors on a flat surface. Maybe. Dunno!

Re: Which YZ10 ???
Seen you're in the UK and it has shumacher bits on it I think it's a rather safe bet the car has UK origins (The custom bits I mean). And the material looks a lot like the one used by Fybrelite... Maybe contact them to see if they know more about it?
Re: Which YZ10 ???
Thanks for that , i will have to send them an email . after some internet hunting have found a company called EXOTEC RACING who seem to have had dealings in the past with yokomo conversions so might be worth dropping them an email too i think. Im just curious as to what it is now lol. Kinda funny the things you find on ebay A quick call to CML wont hurt either i guess as they have a part in stock id like to order.
they havent got alot remaining but what they do have is fairly priced see here

Re: Which YZ10 ???
I'm pretty sure its made by Fibre Lyte. It was a touring car conversion for the works 94/95 (cant remember the correct term for this model). Back when off road was begin pushed aside for TC racing in the later 90s here in the UK.
I'm guessing it consisted of chassis, battery plate, front and rear towers and top deck. The rest came direct from the yz10 95 - except for the shocks.
I have the same kit but the towers are slightly different, they have body post slots. Unfortunatley my front tower is cracked and they are pretty sparse these days. I have only ever seen this particular yz10 95 iteration 3 times on ebay and every time they have gone for low prices, got mine for £30
Will one day in future get round to restoring it but the list seems to get longer!
NRG, let me know what you find out from the retailers - my info above is only from what I know so is most likely wrong
