First picture was a indoor track in Boone, IA, it's now closed. They had it set up as offroad and then converted it to oval but couldn't draw in a big enough crowd to keep it going. We only made it there when it was an oval.

We never made it to the track in the second picture. It is in Evansdale, IA, you can see more pictures at http://www.extremerconline.com/

Good luck with your track!

Here are a few of an indoor track 30 min from my house. Sadly I have visited, but never raced there. They've added an indoor oval track also. That's more my style. I need to check it out again myself.

Here's a youtube vid of Leisure Hours indoor track. It's about 20 minutes from my house. Some are not fond of the hard packed surface but that's where the racing is anymore.

They had the Roar 1/8 Nitro Off-road Nationals race there last July 1st I think it was. You should check out their outdoor track:

Here's the track closest to me:
http://rcexcitement.com/tracks.html

The hard-packed surface lasts the longest and keeps the buggys the cleanest, so I think that's why it's what you find everywhere. My local outdoor track is more loamy like the old school tracks, so you can get away with lots of different tires.
The preceding contained opinions, beliefs and thoughts that all may not agree with. No offense was intended at any point. Carry on.

Heres our local indoor track. Its not your traditional indoor offroad but more of a European thing.

Here is video from the old Fort Dodge Iowa track.

It was pretty small, but the most awesome dirt ever.

It was formerly an Indoor Onroad facility (Bigdads RC RIP) (you can get an idea of its size)
