I have run the white Lazer ZX5 rims. I dont have a link but these are not hard to find as they are still for sale as the ZX5 is the latest Kyosho racer still on the market. If your LHS doesn't stock them you could look up ebay?

I just saw these wheels for the DBX and the have the classic optima look to them. I couldn't find anything using the search on here or google, but if I missed it then sorry, but does anyone know if these wheels will work on the optima. For 5 bucks I'm willing to take a risk.

I think those are truck wheels, but yes they would probably fit.
You can check the manual at the kyosho USA site I believe.

I played dress ups on a Javelin (usually fitted with boring option house W-5032s) with some Sand Super/Option House alternatives.

If it were my call, Lazer ZX5 tires on black Super 10 5 spoke (I only have the multispokes :() wheels are cheap and practical runners. Ayk Viper tires on Pure 10 size rims are a very near fit, drive fits perfectly and look pretty aggressive.

I bought a set of the black DBX wheels as they are cheap but didn't manage to find tires at the time. Seeing how wide and large the rims are made me not pursue the DBX tires as they really are racing truck tires. They are currently on a slow ship but I can check if they fit when they arrive.

PS no the Incident rims don't actually fit Optima drives.

Well in that case you might have to sell/trade these to me- LOL! Ive always liked these rims /tyres if you ever think they dont belong with your projects I'd be glad to hear from you.

Where did you find those Viper tyres by the way?

The third picture with sharp spikes are the Ayk Viper tires on standard Pure 10 touring rims. I'm not sure officially what the Viper wheels are as they have no internal inner rim...I measure the rims at variable up to 30mm wide, 48mm internal diameter and the actual tires 24mm wide at the rim. The profile is much more rectangular than the Optima Sand Super.

I get a giggle any time I read the Optima manual recommending to cut much of the spikes off Sand Supers for certain track conditions....

Anyone brave enough to admit that they cut the spikes off any Sand Supers?

Back in the late 80's it was common to trim the tips of spikes off the tyres we used back then. Schumacher pretty much had it all worked out by releasing 'cut spikes'. These had a larger diameter carcus with shorter spikes which kept the overall rolling diameter the same as the old Cat spikes.
Those were the days.

Those "Dirt Paw" look great... I had a little trouble with the link provided on theoptimahouse, I found them through the site despite not speaking / reading Dutch, and Google translate not working on the site. Here's a direct link to the product: http://www.conrad.be/goto.php?artikel=223183.

Here is the listing on Conrad's UK site

I have a set I bought off German Ebay. They seem pretty soft and look very similar to the Option House tires.

Who makes the 5 spoke rim on the right, and what kind of adapter does it take?

I believe you are referring to the original Optima rims. You can still get them new on ebay but finding tires for them is the subject of this thread.

Thanks for the link. It appears they don't ship outside of the UK. I also found them on conrad-int.com, which appears to ship everywhere in the world expect the United States - not sure but shipping looked to be $$$. Maybe I will buy some and have them shipped to some family friends in the UK and have them bring them on their next trip to the US.

Thanks! Saw a set on Ebay in a lot of parts but the seller didn't know who made them.
