Re: Next Re-Re - Sand Scorcher
Well, Tamiya's website has corrected the "4wd" description on the 'Scorcher....I think it's safe to assume it's the correct chassis we know & love...but:
$505 MSRP???
Yeeoouch...

Re: Next Re-Re - Sand Scorcher
they also posted the buggy champ close to that price. I buy the tower hobby super saver club every year . for me it is well worth it. with the coupons they send you will be able to get it at close to half that price. I am not trying to push tower hobbies to anyone but with the super saver club you cant beat the price. i will be checking them out dialy as soon as they have it listed i will back order one. When i purchased the buggy champ it was around $280.00 with the coupon and free shipping .

Re: Next Re-Re - Sand Scorcher
Three other cool releases (not a re-re): http://www.tamiyablog.com/
1. Ball Diff for SRBs
2. Datsun Safari (me likes!)
3. New vintage F1 Six Wheeler (me likes)
About time they mixed it up a bit, I a getting re-re'd out.

Re: Next Re-Re - Sand Scorcher
Wow - cannot beleive the ball diff!! They didnt do it back then - perhaps they do read the forums!! LOLOLOL
Lovin the safari as well.
The 6 wheeler has me puzzles though - this will be the "third" re-re of the car (or similar).
Really good stuff.
Cheers

Re: Next Re-Re - Sand Scorcher
I was thinking the same thing. I guess this one has a different body? I don't remember the engine being exposed on the last ones. I guess there is only so much you can do with a 6-wheel platform and Tamiya wants to keep it active. Who knows?RETRO R/C wrote:

That Datsun looks cool too. It would be sweet if they put a Lancia Stratos Alitalia body on that sucker, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

Re: Next Re-Re - Sand Scorcher
You are of course correct - the body is indeed different on the new one - alot more detail than seen previously - also appears to be a shorter wheelbase - that could be the angle of the picture though. Reckon I will still get one - as I LOVE the six wheeler and have always been an F1 fan.
That Datsun is one that I ALWAYS dreamed about Tamiya doing - as I adored the 12th scale static kit they did of that model. I always wondered why they didnnt use the 959 platform at the time to release that body - as it is such a sweet looking car.
A Lancia in full trim would be awesome!
Cheers

Re: Next Re-Re - Sand Scorcher
Jason usually has lots of parts on eBay (JR-RC).....really goood guy to deal with and parts are very reasonably priced mostly. Also lots of other sellers splitting kits...worth the effort to seach on "buggy champ" as well as "rough rider" ... lots of results.

Re: Next Re-Re - Sand Scorcher
thanks darryn. i didn't spend a whole lot of time searching, being as i don't have one (buggy champ). but, i'm really gonna try to get a SS (and it will be used
).
i'm really gonna be pissed if they re-re the ranger after the SS, though. i'd much rather have that.

Re: Next Re-Re - Sand Scorcher
LOL mate - if you want a ranger - just get the scorcher, thrash it - then but the Ranger shell and mounts when it gets re-re'd........... Thats what I would be doing anyway!!

Re: Next Re-Re - Sand Scorcher
that's an idea. or, i could sell the beetle shell and put on a brat body on it temporarily, along with the brat tires/rims.
