how are you mounting your batteries?
Umm my batteries in the shotgun format dont seem to fit very well in the gold chassis I'm building. Length wise they are too long and would never fit in the holder and if i cut the end off the holder the battery will stick out of the end and get too close to the servo mount. I ripped open a battery and removed the plastic end cap and then taped it up and that fits better but it looks bad. And forget mounting it cross ways...way tooo tight. All my packs are the shotgun stick packs and I'm thinking that the side by side packs must be better however i dont have any of them...what do you guys do? I'm thinking I'm going to have to cut up a regular holder or make something up...

i think alot of the problem with the stick packs isnt the cells themselves but the honking plastic end caps the batteries have on them.
dont forget on the rear bulk the 2 screws that attach the side to the side of the pan. you may want to use shorter screws to gain clearance so the pack can slide past them.
