Whisker's Scorcher

Post by Whiskers »

While strolling through the junkyard, I found this old gem. (Read: big pile of junk, at least the way it was then. Parts scattered to the four winds.) After over a month of fooling around, I've got it to this point. Still missing alot of parts, but it was missing most of them when I got it.

Love it, hate it, whatever, it kept me busy brain storming for awhile.

As for the rear case mods, before you freak out on me, it was just a matter of what I have planned for it in the future. I have an original case, in unmodified condition, with all the covers, etc.

Does anybody have any idea how good the Scorcher was as a street car?

It was awesome!

I think the only reason nobody has said "BOO" is because I've altered it from it's original form. :(

Whiskers, what you have done to this Scorcher could be considered Blasphemy on the Tamiya Club website. Just thank your lucky stars that it has gone under the radar here.

JK

The scorcher is a very versatile car. I even saw one made into a formula one car which Mr. Lexan beat me out on eBay for.

With the thought that I started with something that should have been thrown in the trash. (No chassis, only broken gears, ETC,ETC!) I thought I had done good.

I thought I would give it a second wind. At least make something that half resembled a Scorcher.

Thanks for making me second guess it, maybe the whole project will end up in the trash.

There are people that think a stock, restored 1957 Chevy is cool, and then there are the people that think a Pro- Street '57 chevy is cool. If we don't have room in this world for both, then maybe it's time to clean house. :x

why are you posting 2 completely different reactions to shodogs post?

you give thanks in one and then make it sound like you are insulted in the other.

in case you dont know JK means just kidding.

I missed the JK. But I wasn't trying to be insulting, just sharing a view.

Of course, I have tried to play nice after my first post here was so inflammatory. So maybe I failed once again.

My response was firmly tongue in cheek. I am all for modifying things. Several of my SRB's have non Tamiya aftermarket hop ups. I only made those comments because on Tamiya club you have a real purrists faction that would be appalled of what you made of your scorcher. But in the end you have to remember that these are toys and there is no need to get worked up over them.

hehe, its all good in the hood.

i myself would gut a 55 chevy in a heartbeat and put twin turbos and a touring suspension in it.
