Check out my finds from today

Post by Der Kommissar »

I answered a for sale ad to day. It just goes to show you never know until you show up. It said "cleaning up and never gonn use this stuff again." Take a look and the price was........$25.00.   Yes, it's a complete running but rough Bruiser in the one picture. I didn't even take pics of all the parts boxes that came with. There's also a 12L pan car, tubs of servos and motors. I have to take a breath just thinking about it LOL.

I'm guessing this is a Hot Trick front end?

More to come.
If it isn't broke, I haven't driven it yet.

I would have offered him 15 bucks to see if he would bite. :) Cool homemade nose plate on the RC10.

Thanks fellas. What was odd was that the Bruiser was not in the ad originally. This guy worked at a local hobby shop in his youth and bought stuff and sold it like many of us. I met him at a neutral location and he was showing me all of the boxes of parts and he said "I also have this truck, but I'm not sure what it is. If you can use it you can have it." I had to keep a good game face. Good thing the guy from the Allentown PA Craislist didn't get ahold of him before me. Aside from bad paint, the Bruiser is actually complete and just needs a dip/repaint and all new glass, lenses and chrome. The RC10 is actually pretty clean too. I'm thrown by the front end as I assume it's a Hott Trick, but the last one I had was red anodized? There are some cool old school motors as well. A nice Joel Johnson modified and a few others. I really hope some vintage racing comes to our area. I have a complete Hott Trick converted Fox and now I want to do this RC10 but have no place to race them.

You really think it's homemade? If it is, someone did a hell of a job. Between the clean edges and bends I was sure it was production. Can anyone else shed some light on this for me?? I was going to put a post in the tech section as well.

Yes I can. It is a Hot Trick Racelite Front end. I was produced by HT for racing as it had the holes to reduce weight.
( And of course I have one New In Pack ) :D

Since being on this site I have found that I have too many parts and R/C Models. Please help me get rid of them. ;-)

I was just assuming it was home made based on the fact that I'd never seen anything like it. Stupid me. That purchase just keeps looking better and better!

Prince Steve, thanks for the info. I assumed it was Hott Trick since it had the shock tower, but I only ever had the red anodized wide front end, in fact it's on my Fox. I never knew there was a race version.

RedScampi, all I can say is that it was pure luck.

Very nice find!!!!! I wish there had been a few more tasty items in with the Bruiser I found a couple years ago, but for $25 beggars can't be choosers! LOL

Awesome score. By the way, I'd love to see some pics of the Hot-Tricked -out Fox. I never had a fox, but as my new interest on older cars has matured lately, the Fox is my favorite early Tamiya. That, the FAV and Wild One.

Sure, I'll post some up for you. I have to dig it out. The funny thing is it's more RC10/Hott Trick than Fox. I think the only thing left from the Fox is the gear box.

Awesome haul. Hey, I'd be happy to give you double what you paid for the whole lot just for the Bruiser. 8)
