Re: Frog project
I used a touring car mount off of my xxx-s. I screwed a long screw in and cut the head off, and screwed the mount down to the front bumper mount.

Re: Frog project
Here's another pretty cool set up.
I think this one is in the Tamiya forum somewhere, I found it searching E-bay:

I like the Maisto motor set up in the back. It's the same one that's in my Bus. I wonder if they can be ordered separately?

It came with the bus. I know they used to sell them at Target, but I'm not sure if they can still be found there. I see them on E-bay once in awhile. The only real bogus part (visually) of both the Maisto Bus & Bug is the see-through deck lids. It may be a non-issue if you plan on color matching the deck lid with the body anyway. Then the detailed motor can be re-used elsewhere.

Re: Frog project
I miss my old Frog!
As far as wheels & tires go, I like what looks the most realistic.
Back in the day I ran either the CRP 1.5 solid chrome wheel halves or the stock frog wheels on mine at one time or another.
If your goal is to make it look exactly like a 'Scorcher, I'd go with the 1.5's.
Those rear tires on the Rough Rider rims look pretty beefy, are there any clearance issues with the body?
I've got the 1.7's on my Kyosho/Tamiya Baja only because of the exact style of wheel halves I was searching for were only available in that size.
Since checking out your Frog post, I've found myself searching E-bay so I can make a replica of one of my favorite old cars...I had an MRP Baja Bug body on mine back in '87.
....I found an old picture from way back just prior to the MRP body...before I figured out how to make decent body mounts!..UGH!
The grainy pic below that one is the same car with the MRP body.

Me to. I like the old MRP bodies. yea the rear tires ar AJ's their real Beefy I love them I have 2 sets.Diggley wrote:I miss my old Frog!I had an MRP Baja Bug body on mine back in '87.
I learned if you going to build another one just wait for a coupon then just buy a New one from Tower I ended up spending more redoing this Frog than a new one would have cost. other than a very few parts I trashed most of it as it was very tired. and wheels and tires were not even useable theirs almost 50 bucks right their whats a new frog 120.00. mine has new metal new chassis CVD kit never again

Re: Frog project

Re: Frog project
no not yet I have to order some paint, its a real pain everytime I need some paint I have to call Tower since we have no local Hobby shop. so I have been putting it off till I figure out what I need for all of them. they ship it ground so if I have to wait I want to get as much as an afford at one time.RedScampi wrote:Looks outstnding Rick! Re: Frog project
That looks awesome. I like both sets of wheels, I can't decide which set I like better. Anyway, I'm working on a similar Frog project, so this thread has been a lot of fun for me to follow. Thanks for sharing your build!
