frog almost done

Post by tulsa »

here is my frog project i have been working on. it will be an occasional runner(maybe the VOnats if i make it) i have been wanting to do a frog build for awhile now so when i ran across this wreck of a frog i grabbed it. it had a few goodies on it so it was a good start. a few parts i added are
crp front bumper
crp 2107 ajustable motor mount
tamiya 8422 pressed parts
tamiya 9805115 gearbox joints(hotshot???)
thorp dirtburners 4510 dog bones
thorp dirtburners 4511 hub and axle set
thorp dirtburners 4527 16t extra long pinion
pro-line 100f, 100r black wheels
aj's super ny front and rear tires
trinity midnight 2 motor
parma nerf's and front/rear shocks
and still looking for a thorp ball diff, crp rear skid plate, crp front arms and crp rear bumper. then theres the body choice  a bug body would look great on there but it would hide all the goodies. so maybe the stock frog body is the way to go. what do you guys think? have any of you guys played around with fitting any other bodies on a frog?
anyways here it is.

A lexan rough rider body would look sweet on it also. parma made a chenowth body similar in style to a rough rider

Looks really cool. I dig the big spikes! Old buggy tires are the best!

What is a Thorp diff going for these days? Does the Frog share the same Thorp diff as the Monster Beetle?

i sold a nip hotshot thorp diff 2 months ago(before i new it was what i needed  ) for $35. the diffs are the same for the frog, blackfoot,mb,brat, mudblaster and the hotshot.(maybe more?) if you install the thorp diff you need the thorp outdrives also.

$35.00? That's all? I had read that they were selling for big bucks! Good for you if you need to find one. I just looked on 'epay' and saw a Monster Beetle with a Thorp for $40.00 (http://cgi.ebay.com/Tamiya-Monster-Beetle-W-Thorp-Diff-and-Mauri-Tires-/120583274128). That seems like a steal.

I had one on my watch list that looked just like this one that was ended early. Wasn't you was it?

Either way it looks really good so far. :) I had no idea until now that the Hotshot shared the same ball diff as all these models!

This is a question for anybody. How do you tell the difference between these rear Parma shocks and the You-G ones?

it could have been me. i ran across this and asked the guy if he had a bin and that was that :D

i wish i would have realized it was the same diff sooner also

i'm no expert here but as far as i can tell they are the same shocks just rebadged. i don't know of any way to tell if they were you-g or parma. (somebody correct me if i am wrong)

you could cut down a proline bug body like i did...its not the greatest but it works.
Your frog is a lot better off than mine right now tho, i still need new uper and lower a-arms(mine are wore out), wheels, tires, and a new gear set.
