WCM 1/4 Scale

Post by Jacobey »

Anybody ever see one of these before? It's a 1/4 scale made by WCM. Asking around it sounds like it was built around '93 or '94 so you could consider it vintage

The car is about 4 foot long and weights around 30 pounds. It is powered by a Zenoah 23cc motor and is ran on high octane racing fuel. I was lucky enough to buy it for $300. It's raced on an asphalt oval with 75 foot straights, 24 foot wide, and a 350' runline. As old as it is, it keeps up just fine with the newer cars, lacking a little speedwise but that may change by next year :D

And for a size comparsion:

thats awesome!!! ive always wanted one of those, i passed up one 8 years ago cause it was missing too many parts
that zenoah motor that's in there is an early G2D model.. one of the best motors they made, it was the predecessor to the g23lh and then the g23rc

Probably a good thing you passed it up then, parts for these things are expensive. At least I got the old car so I get parts people are pretty much giving away

Yep, it's a G2D-70. Good motor, but doesn't quite keep up with the newer G230RC

yea i kinda figured they were bank...

as for the g2d motor.. with a few lil mods the g2d can be just as fast if not faster.. i used to work for goped, and knew a guy that made reed valve conversions for these motors, also head kits with changeable compression and he would run them on alcohol, msd ignition systems were also installed along with a crazy tuned pipe .. man these things would rip.. estimates were 15+ hp.. enough to buck you off when the powerband hit

15 HP ?!?

Right now the G230RC's are making a whooping 2.5 hp, and you can get them "dyno tuned" so they make 2.8 hp.

Of course, none of that stuff is legal at most of the tracks. You really can't do anything to the motors to make them go faster.
