Absolutely lovely I'm sure you could fool a few by taking a pic on some asphalt.

You are a lucky boy Brian for having seen one in the flesh. Those GT 2000 where never popular even back in the day and very few of them came out from the factory. I wish I could touch one one of these days, they look awesome IMO, even better than a Jaguar Type-E, which is one of my all time favs.

Just wanted to say that the car looks totally amazing. I love the wheels.
Well done.

I kinda think it was yellow. It's tough to remember details about a 2 minute event, 20+ years ago!

I think I have Toyota envy, why the different chassis or was it corrected in the rebuilding process?

I got the "wreck" with a T2 chassis that was pretty beaten up and wanted to come back as close as possible to a "stock" DS that should have a good old tub. I managed to grab three new black ones from the AE sell out and one of them was fitted on my DS. I gues the previous owner had difficulties to replace a bent chassis and came up with the idea of using a T2 chassis that was more common at that time (around 1996). Remember that the last black tub chassis (not milled) was on the Team Car, introduced in 1991 if I'm not mistaken. So I guess (key word here) that it was already hard to find a new black tub in 1996 when the DS came out.

Yeah, that's a nice DS. It looked like it took a lot of cleaning and that MIP trans is a nice touch too. I was thinking about starting a DS project with a bug body, but I love that toyota body, it's come along great.

Asso,

Thank you for the explanation and rationale, so I guess my only other questions is will she be a shelf queen or will she see a bit of very gentle road time?

I would love to run it smoothly, but since the tub is new as well as tires, rims and other parts, not even mentionning the body and the very fragile two speed set up, I think it will stay on the shelf. I'm more an off-rod nuts anyway
