RC500 2wd - last raced in 1985

Post by RC10resto »

Here you go Al - I wish it was in better condition but it is all there (less body), I did not dye the parts. But I am responsible for scratching the nice red head thanks to me clipping a metal apex dish at the Ranch sending me sliding down the track on my lid  And I must have tossed out my front bumper after my radio / back straight episode.
I am pretty sure that I was the only "REVTECH" powered car at the race

Brian I never you were a 1/8th scale guy. Great!! I have the same engine with the same head and manifold sitting right here.
Same scratches from a ride on my lid too!
Bill
Have a nice day! :)

Yes it is - K&B 3.5 with McCoy slide carb and pipe.
The engine never gave me any problems - it was fast, didn't sputter or stall - I was lucky.

Well I guess there was a good clear motor picture that said K&B after all. Brian, when was the last time you ran it? I'm getting closer to getting an RC500 but it will only be one that is in the best condition even if I have to build it a piece at a time which is pretty much the way I've built all my other cars. Building an RC500 like that will probably make it the most expensive ever built but I have certain expectations about these cars and I don't want to buy junk and then have to rebuild it. Your car Brian is an awesome example with all its character, the history is what makes it so special.

I am right there with you, all my new cars that I am collecting or building from parts (I am ultra picky) have to be 100% perfect. But as you said some cars are exceptions to the rule - mine are this RC500 and my RC10 Graphite Team car, they have personal history. Wish I knew what I did with my 12e & 12i :?: - I do kind of remember selling my "early production" RC10 to help pay for the Graphite.

Hey Bill, are you going to put your K&B in a car or is it in a car?

Happy 4th

I am pretty sure it was your basic red Rit dye, it was a long time ago. If your parts are in decent shape you might want to keep them white. I really need to clean mine up :!:

mine are yellow color. i will try the peroxide trick, but i think the nylon is different material from the rc10 nylon. i am not sure if it will work.
i want to dye mine so the car does not look so bad. even when put together the car looks pretty bad with the diry parts.
