Re: Kyosho Optima build x2
Nice work so far. I get memories of my Optima resto-mods every time I see one of these resto project threads. It all starts with a tear-down and clean-up of the old chassis and inventorying of all parts that will need replacing. I don't think I'll ever do another Optima or variant, as I've done enou...

Re: Odd generic aluminum shock binding issue
Update on the shock binding issue and AE Green Slime...my shocks got slimed! I took the new set, which needed to be fully disassembled anyway as they had very little oil inside them, and dabbed a tiny bit of Slime on the shafts and O-rings, as these shocks have removable bottom caps making...

Re: Kyosho Turbo Optima Legendary series - 30619
Great post, thanks for that...it's always fun to read how one of us got sucked back into the hobby after many years' hiatus.

Re: Very young youngtimer ;) Hot Bodies D413
I'd have that receiver plate mounted with at least 2 attachment points. With just one, with an offroad buggy, it's guaranteed to start swivelling once that single mounting screw loosens up a bit. Maybe a little square of servo tape underneath would also prevent this. The wing setup doesn't look opti...

Re: So You're Into RC Cars. WTF Else Do You Do?
I'm an I.T. manager for a power generation company. Like many of you, I'm also a car guy. I love old muscle cars and besides the daily driver '05 Dodge Magnum R/T AWD wagon, I have an '86 Buick Grand National and '70 Charger 500 (383 Magnum, my first car I bought when I was 19). The Charger needs a ...

Re: Marui Hunter - My first buggy... Found one to restore :-) - and a Galaxy RS too :)
The paint turned out great, IMO it sure looks a lot nicer than the box-art paint scheme.

Re: Kyosho Optima build x2
I used FasKolor paints for that, FasPearl Gold and FasBlack, which is just a non-metallic solid black. I usually back metallics/pearls with silver or white. I backed the gold with FasKrome on that body. FasKolor is water-based airbrush paint. I love the easy cleanup and no nasty fumes.

Re: Kyosho Ultima RT5 3D printed custom chassis
How do the mounting posts & standoffs hold up with 3D-printed material compared to the original plastics, as far as self-tapping threaded parts go?

Re: Kyosho Salute Project
Nice, I love those Cross upgrades. The Optima chassis in its stock form tends to push and understeer a little under acceleration, so hopefully your widened track will help it steer better. That's what I noticed when I made similar modifications to my Barney Optima, which also has a slightly widened ...

Re: Ideal vintage 2wd wheelbase
That's a great question. Why did 1/10-scale cars get significantly larger? Lord knows. They lengthened wheelbases, pushing the wheels farther apart, while widening the track accordingly, pushing the wheels outward as much as possible. Today's 1/10-scale car is way bigger than decades ago. RC cars (b...

Re: Marui Hunter - My first buggy... Found one to restore :-) - and a Galaxy RS too :)
Nice, I don't recall ever seeing silver wheels offered as a hop-up option for the Galaxy/Hunter. It's also cool to see both a red and blue Galaxy together.

Nice, I don't recall ever seeing silver wheels offered as a hop-up option for the Galaxy/Hunter. It's also cool to see both a red and blue Galaxy together. 8) The silver wheels were the norm on the Galaxy (not the RS) red, with the Marui 360RS motor. And they existed as replacement part. And @ Coel...

Re: Marui Hunter - My first buggy... Found one to restore :-) - and a Galaxy RS too :)
I'm curious on how your Marui Galaxy is holding while running on Offroad on this particular point, and would be also interested in more details on the modifications you've done :) I don't think my brother has run it much since I did the resto and surprised him with it for his birthday, after it sat...

Re: Marui Hunter - My first buggy... Found one to restore :-) - and a Galaxy RS too :)
What I can remember from the shock tower mods...remember, this project was completed 10 years ago...was that the blue rear shock towers were the weakest point, and too flexible for the upgraded 45mm 3Racing shocks I installed. Replacing those blue plastic towers with carbon fiber pieces, mounted to ...
